Parking and traffic tips for Bama Game.

Coming to town for the game. My Dad and I would usually attend one LSU game per year growing up. Never really thought much about traffic as a kid And teenager. Until last year was first trip I made with just my wife and I. Parked at Walk ons melted during Auburn game, sat in traffic for 2 hours after. What's the most efficient place to park and leave on game day?

Don't come. The parking here is the worst traffic in all of human existence. So bad that people give up one of the things they love the most so they don't have to deal with it. It's sooooo bad.

When you drive 10 hours and pay hundreds for tickets you don't give a shite if you end up in traffic. But any advice would help. Such as would it be worth it to buy a parking pass?

It really all depends on your desire to walk to and fro.. If yall are willing to walk.. Park outside of campus.. It also really depends on when you will be getting there and where you are staying.. If the Bama game is close, it's going to be a shite show but you can litigate that by paying attention to the flow maps and plan on where you park in relation to where you are going

If you don't mind walking a little bit, park in one of the lots off Dalrymple by the LSU Lab School. There is a little traffic getting out of there after the game, but it's generally not too bad. We are usually--after staying until the end--out of that lot and onto I-10 West within one hour of the final play.

Figure out which road you want to leave campus on and then park accordingly.
I only go to one game a year as well and last year, getting on Burbank was the best and fastest way out for me.

It depends on where you are trying to go after the game.....

Toward Coursey and Sherwood Forest.

The Baton Rouge Police are clueless in most all things I've experienced, especially traffic. If they haven't figured out how to fix the game traffic situation by now, they never will.

Whatever you decide to do, get there early.

If I was you and I was coming from out of town, I would either get a parking pass or get out there about 4-5 hours early if you want a free spot.

Parking pass will not ensure you won't be in a clusterf*** if it's a close game. Besides they're only available on the secondary market now and will cost you out the wahoo.

It will be epicly bad. There is no solution unless you come early in an RV and stay till Sunday, or stay WAY after the game to let the 2-3 hours of traffic go away.

Just go back to the tailgate and start drinking again and listen to the post game show until the traffic is gone

I'll make my request for information a little more specific. I'm an alum bringing friends in from out of state for their fist tiger gameday experience. I would expect us to be on campus early enough to soak up sights and sounds so getting there from the hilton downtown shouldnt be a problem but what about getting back after game? Is nicholson probably best bet to get back to hotel after the game?

Depends on a few variables. Where are y'all coming from? Where are y'all headed afterwards? Either you're early to beat the traffic coming in, or you stay late sitting in traffic on the way out.
I suggest parking north of highland off of Dalrymple. Its about 20 minute walk to the stadium but I've never sat in traffic longer than 20-30 minutes to get back to the interstate.

They close Nicholson at south stadium so if you park to the north of there you can only go north and vice versa. Same with river road I think. Best advice is to stay and listen to post game. Have a beverage. You will either wait in traffic or at your car. Stay at least an hour after

I've parked off Burbank the entire season (heading to New Orleans). With the contraflow, you can get all the way to Siegen and Highland faster than you would during regular daily traffic. After getting to our car, we've made it to New Orleans in a little over an hour. With that being said, if you're heading South, park there again.
ETA: I leave the games after the Alma Mater.

Depends if you're coming in from the East or West. If you're coming in from the east...stay in I-10 til after Dalrymple, then take the next exit(Louise St.) and head south to Highland. Take a right on Highland, then immediate left on Oklahoma to Nicholson. Get as close to the north gates as possible near VooDoo BBQ and pay one of the restaurants/gas stations $20-25 to park. Follow the same route home...quickest way to get back to I-10.
My parents live off O'Neal Lane and this is still the quickest route we've found over the last 20 years.
Get on campus by 1:00pm at the latest.
P.S. LOCK your doors!
