My last pair were Leupold wind rivers I believe, they seem to have found a new home. THink I left them sitting out at the camp.

Cabelas has vortex talons on sale for 200. Normally 459 I think.

I have Eagle Optics, They make the Vortex also. They have a website and are very helpful. Give them a call.

Celestron Nature binoculars. I've had several different brands and these have the best light gathering ability of any on the market no matter the price. These guys started as a telescope company so their opticss are excellent.

The 9x63 SkyMasters are good if you are looking for a little bigger option

I have a pair of these in 10x42. I don't know shite about binocs. All I'd ever had was the little cheapie ones from walmart or whatever. Trapping hawks, I have to distinguish between a juvenile and adult to avoid wasting time. So, I finally started doing some research on better binoculars. These got excellent reviews everywhere I looked, usually rated as high or higher than models from other companies in much higher price brackets. I think I paid less than $150 for mine. I don't know how they compare to $1000 binoculars, but for the money I'm very pleased. They're 100X better than the cheapies I've owned.

I bought a pair of Steiner Nighthunters to replace my celestron's and after one afternoon in the treestand I returned them. I've bought several celestrons to give as gifts.

I'll add that after mentioning I was going to get some binoculars (had already decided on the celestron) someone got me a pair of Nikon for xmas in a comparable price range. I tried them out, but returned them and got the celestron pair. I'm happy I did.

1+. I can't tell you what's the "best" binocular in the $200 range, but I can tell you I've been very pleased w/ my latest binocular purchase, a pair of 12X50 Vortex Diamondbacks. I'd been watching their prices for about 8 mos at $210 when Cabela's discounted them to $160. I jumped on them. They were my main binocular on 2 prairie dog- hunts this yr. I was NOT disappointed. Glassing prairie dogs for 8-10 hrs/day is a good test for binoculars. You'd be hard pressed to find a better pair of binocs in your price range. What magnification are you considering?

My brother-in-law gave my son a pair of Bushnells last year for his birthday last year. I know they are the Legend model, but not 100% sure of the "series". But I think these are them.
They are the clearest binocs I've ever looked through. Granted, I've never looked through a pair of high-dollars ones.
Bushnell Legend L-Series

I really like my Vanguard Endeavor HD 10x42, but can't speak whether they're better than the Vortex.
Paid $250 for them but had a $50 manufacturer rebate.
Vanguard 4.8 of 5.0 stars
Vortex 4.8 of 5.0 stars
