No, no it doesn't. The weather would be nice enough to open it for like 1 game out of the year

Also need a glass roof over Champion Square. Solar panels, climate controlled. Would especially be helpful for major events.

I stand corrected with the 19 month timeline, though the 31 month timeline should give the construction more than enough time if the Saints played in Tiger Stadium for 2 seasons. Overall, I feel that this would be the best plan to keep New Orleans at the very top of the Super Bowl and overall event sites in the country.

Hell no, then everyone will leave before halftime and we would lose dome field advantage.

That would be cool. However; I know that rain or shine, there will be a game played without delay in the dome.

Uh, you do realize this would still be the case with a retractable roof right? Do you know what a retractable roof is?

but putting a retractable roof on a current structure is an option?

From living in Houston, a retractable roof is a complete waste for the 1 or 2 times a year you MIGHT be able to use it. And you sacrifice crowd noise for it.

Actually it is an option. The superdome was built to host baseball and football so in theory a roof like what the Bluejays stadium has could be added, but what is the point? If you want a retractable roof then just build a new stadium. If they do anything to the superdome's roof; they need to replace the steel and foam roofing material at the top of the dome with ETFE like the Vikings', Rams', and Raiders' new stadiums use.

No it couldn't just "be added". It would require tearing down the existing exterior structure of the Superdome and redoing the foundation as the present walls and foundation were not designed to bear those types of loads for a retractable roof.

The Rogers Centre works for Toronto most of the time because their climate is much different than NOLA's. I was there in August of this year (Jays hosting the Astros) and it was hotter than balls with the roof open.

They (@ Rogers) do not have an A/C system for the facility so you have the chance of hot, humid, rainy days in the summer with the roof closed and the interior playing & spectator area like a sauna.

I know we'd have to have an A/C system like Reliant in Houston.

I think the heat would be more of an advantage than crowd noise.
Why is Seattle louder after they moved out of the King Dome?
How many games has crowd noise won the Saints the last 5 years? ZERO.
Take the roof off the Dome. Let the sun shine.

But do you really want to feel the August and September humidity?

because Seattle doesn't have 90 degree weather for half their season.

Have you ever been to a game in Seattle?

The team would have one of the worst attendances in the NFL. Mid-september game at noon, lolz

And the rain pour too. Attendance would be awful

Hell, even last week would have been crappy. I'd get rid of my tickets

The dome is great. But how could one argue a retractable roof wouldnt make it better?

If you are against a retractable roof, you are against the Saints.

I always thought that warehouse district area where they had that failed casino right there by the river next to Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras world would be a great location. You could tear down Blaine Kern and relocate it if more room is needed. People would be able to see big time Saints football while crossing the Mississippi river bridge in the new retractable roof Fleur De Lis stadium. Lol What a dreamer I am. lol

They could keep playing ball in the dome til it's built. I read where someone else wrote about that warehouse location being good for a stadium, so I'm not the only one who thinks that area is cool for a new stadium. It's still downtown and a even better locale than where the dome is I think, but that'll probably never happen. lol
