First pick he threw in 100 attempts last night and it was the only turnover.

And the pick was the equivalent of a literally perfect punt.

That long crossing route at the begginging of the game was a pretty bad attempt by Chark. He didn't attack the ball, he let the ball come to him. The defender was able to catch up and defend the pass. I hope to see him a little more aggressive in plays like this.

The second pass to Smith at 1:00 was an excellent axample of not staring down a receiver.

If I am going to critical of anything it was actually on a positive play. Malachi got wide open down the seam on his long TD.

If Etling puts the ball towards the sideline, there would have been no defender in sight. Instead he hung onto the ball, and threw it to the middle of the field. It's one of those plays that looks great on paper, but the way it was executed could be problematic vs a better defense.

Also, early in the game he seemed to be committed to dumping off to short receivers, and he consistently didn't see wide open guys deeper down field. Guys in my section were very critical of this, but I think the coaches were committed to him hitting higher percentage throws early on.

Yea, it bugs me how open Malachi was on that side of the field and how Danny threw it on the other side towards the defender. It really is the difference between a TD and an int or inc vs a better team

eta: Looking back at the throw, the ball went about 52 yards in the air (50 yards downfield and about 13 yards from the left hash to the right), so Im guessing it was at the end of his arm strength and if he tried to throw it to the sideline he mightve underthrown malachi

He's improved a lot since the first game. Just add a little more air, he'll be fine. Finally, we have a servicable QB.

You can tell he's been working on that deep ball. No overthrows on them that I can remember. If Chark doesn't fall down on the interception, he likely bats it away.

Thought he looked very good, passes mostly on target, had the one high flyer to Dural I think it was. Good completion percentage, with Guice dropping the easy dump pass.

Mr. Etling. Can't wait to see what he can do against a real SEC team next week and the coming weeks.

Disagree. Watch again that throw is so long the defender was always going to get there. You can't make the player catch it like Willie Mays over their head. You have to get it out in front of them slightly. That IMO was a good throw as well.

The defender was in the middle left.

You probably didn't have a good view on TV, but from the stands it was obvious he had nothing but space from the right hash to the sideline.

It was a long throw because he held onto it. He could have hit Mal to his. Right pretty quickly and had the same effect.

This. Throw was good but too late. Needed to be earlier and to the outside. Etling had some good throws. Others were a little late and helped by good catches. If he learns to throw with more anticipation he'll be real good.

Ole Miss will be a better benchmark.

Looks good here and there. Arm strength an issue. We know this. Some passes ok but not good. Might hurt against better quality DB.

Decision making is very good. Worried about o-line giving enough time.

The last TD pass was right on the money. That was an MVP play.
