I haven't seen the actual terms but this fiasco costs LSU significantly and we still get blamed?

Is this the case? This is a lot of money being thrown away between UForfeit and Miles

Someone needs to tell Foley to shut the f up.
LSU still loses a home game and has to adjust schedule next year as well due to their incompetence.
It should never have come to that.

Haven't seen anyone mention this, but how much did LSU save not traveling to Florida?

Net? Zero. Because we'll be doing it next year and the year after. In fact we actually lost money probably because we'll have to pay for more food, an extra hotel room, etc. when we bring Coach Herman with next year.

Yes, we should have done exactly what Foley wanted and the media MIGHT have been neutral toward us.

At this point it's difficult to know the actual cost, but it will cost. The game cancellation insurance that the SEC has supposedly will pay some amount for the S. Alabama buy out, but how much I don't know. I think LSU is honoring the S Ala tickets without any kind of premium. That's a lot of revenue vs what they would have charged for FL. Is insurance covering any of that? Again, don't know. And then we're losing a home game next year which is a big impact. Don't know if that will get any insurance consideration, but it certainly won't compensate city businesses.

You're totally missing the point of everyone's frustration. This situation would not even exist if Florida wasn't trying to find a competitive advantage in the scheduling. They were banged up. They played the SEC office perfectly to get out of playing us last week. Now there is a lot of wasted money in buyouts, loss of additional home game for us this year, and to top it all off... wait for it... Florida is actually trying to make us look like the bad guy.

You can take a very detracted view from the reality of home games by assuming that only SEC games matter. This is not true. There is a significant economic impact with every home game. And we lost one this year bc of Florida's unwillingness to play us last weekend. That's the bottom line.

I don't care about blame, but UF lost 2 home games. Assuming the figures are similar, businesses lost around $20 million in Gainesville while LSU ends up even. I don't care about whose fault it is and personally think Foley is to blame, but it does suck for the Gainesville area.

And that's what I was going to say. I'd bet there is no way LSU agreed to all of this with out at least some assistance on that buyout.

And what about 2017 -2018. It doesn't take a lot of smarts to figure out we lose significant revenue because of Florida's incompetence. Last minute home game will not bring the revenue it otherwise would have, completely lose home game, flight and hotel rooms were paid for. Lots of money down the drain. Plus Florida gets to play at a more favorable time, i.e. defensive line healing up. And overlooked in all of this, every other game in the state of Florida and the Carolinas was played or re-scheduled. What made Gainesville any different. So please stop blaming the LSU fans for being pissed at the outcome. I'm ready to move on, but still pissed.

does LSU get to make an insurance claim for the lost revenue of losing 2 homes games between this year and next?

Losing a home game costs local businesses $15,000,000. That's a lot to take from the supporting community. Disappoint the fans this year and they won't be there to support you next year.

Someone explain this to me this....

Unmolested season -

LSU has home game on 19th 2016 vs. USA
LSU has home game vs. FLA 2017

Molested season -

LSU has home game on 19th 2016 vs. FLA
LSU has road game vs. FLA 2017

Is everybody retarded? LSU lost a home game out of this deal and got nothing in return. WTF?!

...and by the way, we should have been playing a seriously banged up FLA not a healthy fully recovered FLA.
