I think the physical bodies they build, from the hosts to the horses to the buildings etc, need to exist physically in order to populate the simulation and make it more realistic.

Like in the first episode when the milk guy is pouring milk into his dead friends mouth, they stop the simulation, turn lights on and it looks like a movie set, not an actual world.

Yeah, it has to be physical because of the "cleanup" you speak but there are still a lot of unanswered questions.

I just watched both episodes this morning. I'm hooked.

The world is clearly physical or it's one giant facility., remember the headquarters are in the side of the mountain and They have balconies and rooms with a view. This show ha s directly ripped off The Island in so many ways (or maybe the Island ripped off the book, Idk, I never read it)

Clearly Ed Harris Is not the bad guy, hes on some kind of spiritual journey or trying to find out what happened 30yrs ago. I think the black steeple is some kind of symbol that a messiah or introduction of a God of some sorts is coming...that's Hopkins big "original" idea.

I think he and Wright are the bad guys as some have said, they are the ones who are constantly fricking with their minds and implanting subtle little shite that in the end will be huge.

Also Ed Harris knows that when the robots are totally emotinally tapped out they revert to their programming/default state and tell him any question asked of them. I also found it strange that the workers knew his every move and didn't care.

This is going to be a very very interesting show, it almost has a Lost season 1 feel to it.

1) How do you enter Westworld? Is it an actual place or a simulation?

2)When you enter, how long are you in there? Week, day, months?

The first question is tough because the robots are real, yet getting show has no effect.

I assume as long as you pay for.

Someone at work was telling me I need to watch this. Is this the first season? And should I?

Have you watched the first two episodes? The robots are picked up and repaired. This has been discussed and shown.

It's a real place, the park is large. It gets more dangerous and less predictable further out from the town, which they enter on the train.

Its two episodes in and I think its fantastic. The acting, setting, story, depth, music are all golden so far. It also has great buildup because it'll answer a question you had about it and then make you ask two more.

I watched the movie last night and it was definitely ahead of its time. Won't get into that in the show thread though.

ETA: that's gotta be fun for all the people who despised James Marsden as Cyclops.

The phrase Delores said to the whore must be what activates them. Just like the other phrase puts them to sleep. Really enjoying this so far

ETA: wild arse theory. It's Hopkins. He's reying to come up with a way to upload himself in one since he's aging.

Very... Didn't Hopkins talk about immortality in episode 1. Also as someone else said I think the little English boy is Hopkins as a kid. He has to have some sort of complex about his life and his past, present and future.

thats why he keeps updating them. Make them self aware.

Or it's Jeffrey wright feeling sympathy for them since they are so life like.

Or the damn woman who knows the big picture. Maybe military operations.

shite. I don't know. So many ways they can go with this

Like what's that gun about that Delores picked up?

That's got to be a real gun - one that can shoot a guest.

How did the black prostitute wake up after that dream with the man in black and what was that about?

It must be assumed that hosts with problems like this are older - they've been around for so many rotations they have lots of disassociated memories. The update by Sir Anthony has to be allowing them to at least subconsciously access these. The "dream" myth that the programmers use has become a reality.

quote:

Why the hell is that guy making his friend do all the stuff he wants to do and not let him do his own sh*t?

Without exception, every single human being thinks that he or she knows best. This is just this phenomenon personified.

quote:

Totally c*ckblocked him with Delores there at the end.

He already ID'd her for him when they got to town, "Girl next door." He thinks that's boring, but he is also into dudes (NTTAWWT).

So glad I kept my blood pressure low by watching this rather than the debate.

I think its physical. Got on the train (room) at a stop and realized it was a train when it accelerated (emerging from the tunnel).

Yeah - I thought that much was obvious. They go to the "locker room" or changing room - however one wants to conceptualize it - he loads into a train car, which takes them to the park.
