Ultimately it was determined that the likelihood of damage from the storm, lack of available emergency personnel and the uncertainty of the impact of the storm on people, facilities and travel necessitated a postponement.

Makes sense to me.

It makes sense to everyone. The anger you are witnessing is because Florida refused to move the game to a safe place when they had viable options to do so.

This. Florida had every opportunity to move this game to any number of places. Instead they want to act like a hurricane just suddenly appeared out of nowhere today headed straight for them.

I just don't understand how South Carolina was able to move their game last year but Florida just couldn't do it this year? People are talking about the families of players, coaches, etc. Were the South Carolina families not impacted by the flooding? How on earth did USCe summon up the courage to find a way to play the game?

I have even more respect for Steve Spurrier now.

Pure cowardice from UF. players didn't push for their coach to allow them to get it in elsewhere? what a group of sad cowards.

And how is this getting turned around on LSU fans somehow? We wanted to watch our team play this weekend. Shocker! I didn't give a hoot in hell where the game was going to be played. I think most fans felt the same way.

#LSU offered to play Sat/Sunday/Monday either in Baton Rouge or Gainesville. #LSU had secured hotels in BR + NOLA. Even offered #LSU plane.

Don't worry, they said. The storm will be gone by Saturday, they said. It's not even going to affect Gainesville, they said.

Plain and simple, Florida wanted this game cancelled.

LSU already has two loses. Not a good year for lsu. Now this? But what if this bs turns out later as an LSU win? LSU has nothing to lose. Win later and it could be a better win than now.

I suspect Sankey will cancel the game thus rewarding U.of Florida officials for their actions, and punishing LSU who had no input in any of this idiocy.

I told you guys.

UF or as I will from now on think of them FU was allowed to act like a two-year old insisting that it was to be played in Gainesville, and the SEC allowed it.
On Wednesday like I said, an adult in the SEC office should have told FU, either move the game or forfeit.
Because this will not be made up, and that is to FU's advantage.
Hell, they're own fans know FU gained in this.

The press release from the SEC pretty much said that no other venues outside the state of Florida was considered.

quote:

“The timing of this storm on a Friday and the uncertainly of its aftermath in the ensuing days make it particularly difficult to project the conditions for the remainder of the weekend as well as the opportunity for travel of teams and fans to or from Gainesville and other cities in Florida,” Sankey said. “I am appreciative of the cooperation of our universities on this matter.”
