It's one thing for him to be honest, but he completely went overboard and disappointed me. It was like he had a huge agenda against LSU and as if ONLY LSU might have issues.. These issues are easily worked out with a new regime and a new contract.. but he was acting as if there was no way any of the elite coaches should even consider LSU.. and that was very disappointing to hear coming from him so strongly..

It's really not that big of a deal. Les was here for over 10 years.. was given an incredible extension.. and was allowed the highest paid coaching staff.. they will gladly work with a new coach they actually have faith in.. It's still always a business and goes both ways.

Brando was way too extreme with his message of no way should they come here.

There's far more positives and if the deal is right, the best of the best should absolute take the opportunity.

Why would he leave the CBS studio for the voice or LSU sports. I know for a fact they paid Hawthorne about 90K plus expenses.

Why would you want to work at a place where your AD or your president could be out of there within a year or two, or you’re going to be working for incompetent people who are going to be getting in your way?” Brando asked. “You don’t need that.”
A winning football coach at LSU easily survives an AD or president change.

Some out there not happy how Miles got chopped so soon this season, but hell what did they expect?? It would have been torture to go through that the whole season.

I thought the same thing... not because we'd lose games but because the fans just aren't built for it. bertman is right, this is fan fatigue. les miles had years of four or five losses and then would run the table two years later. he probably could have done it again. but the board really wants to control football. for one thing, when the media focuses on football, people don't pay attention to how much the boqrd has wrecked LSU financially and academically.

I agree with most of what Brando said, and he would have been a better 'Voice of the Tigers'. Even if you don't agree with him, he's far more knowledgeable about LSU than the out of state guy they hired. And for that matter - he's more informed than most of the writers covering LSU in Baton Rouge.

The way he bashes LSU is what you expect from Finebaum who is a lot nicer to LSU: LINK / He is really trying to make sure LSU doesn't hire a good coach.

this - I used to like Tim but he has lost me on this one

Les fired himself by telling us change was coming but he didn't fire Cam and he put worst on the field for Wisky. If Les worked for me I would have fired him after the Wisky game. Tim talking about the 80's and the 90's is just stupid. We have fired one coach in the last 17 years and that coach fired himself.

Les is getting a lot of love and he will get lots of ESPN love today. Les is gone and fired and I new coach CEO is coaching each week for his job. Until CEO loses a game he is my coach.

Tim is running his month in a very non LSU way and then backs up and says but I still love LSU and Baton Rouge.

Well just add him to the curiously long list of announcers, referees, and other miscellaneous luminaries who have vendettas against LSU.

Everyone on here always complains about the AD and president. That's basically what he did. To the outside world, if the AD and the president are bad, the head coaching job is not the best destination. I'm not saying I agree with him, but that's where he's coming from
Part of Brando's argument on Finebaum the other day was that USC was a better job for Herman. Their Athletic Department is a huge dumpster fire right now. They fired their former football player AD and hired another former football player as AD, with no experience. And by the way their football coach is in his FIRST year of his contract. What part of firing a coach in his first year spells stability for the athletic department?

Brando has a love hate relationship with LSU. But more importantly he loves the sound of his own voice.

He may not necessarily be wrong about Lsu AD problems but when he thinks USC's situation is better he loses all credibility.

Tim Brando's name should be banned from this site and he should be run out of the state. He's posing as a credible commentator while using every opportunity to bad mouth LSU and interfere with our hiring process. He's a POS.

All a coach has to do is win at LSU and he will call the shots. People like Herman are driven to succeed and they don't think in terms of failure. Any coach worth his salt won't care about those clowns. They will care about the talent that LSU attracts, the money, and the potential to win big here. This is stupid, but Brando is stupid. There is a reason CBS fired him.

This is a sure sign of your emotional immaturity. I would guess Tim Brando is a Tim Brando guy, and that who wins a college football game is far secondary to how high his ratings - and thus paychecks - are.

The guys who put the game results ahead of personal goals are the ones who pay. The Tim Brando's are the ones who collect.

This...and he is second only to Pat O'Brien as a name dropper.

And I do think he feigns an inside knowledge of LSU sports he hasn't had in decades. JMO

Always great sig pics dude but you need to get out more. You have never been to Shreveport, apparently. Even up where I'm at on the border with the pigs it's all LSU everywhere you look.

Brando is just pointing out that there are some not so attractive parts to the LSU job. I think that is a fair assessment. Would you want to work for F. King and Alleva?

I don't think either would hamper Herman in any way, and I can't imagine a change in that position would mean a change in a bad coach.

So I really don't think F. King of aleva should have a lot to do with his decision.

If anything Brando is a ULM guy considering he went there before he transferred to LSU.

You guys saying Shreveport is not an LSU town have obviously never been to Shreveport. It's overwhelmingly LSU. Sure there are a few Tech fans, but even most of them care more about LSU

LSU is Louisiana's football team period...not Tech, not Tulane, not ULaLa, not even the Saints! North Louisiana supports LSU as much as they ever have and it is not their fault that Les Miles ignored the area in recruiting for several years.
