When we hired Saban, wr made him the highest paid coach and it paid huge dividends. If we offer Herman 7+ I don't see how he turns it down.

$21 or $28 million dollar contract for a Houston coach? Yikes

Ole Miss has a coach that coached high school football not that long ago. What's your point?

You don't go out and give Herman a huge dollar contract. Regardless of how hot his name is in coaching realm, he's still only had 1 1/2 seasons as a head coach at this level. I'd be shocked if they offered him more than $5mil.

Fisher on the other hand is a different story. His resume' garners a higher dollar value. He's won a national title at a major program, he's recruited well at that program, and he's been pretty consistent in terms of having a strong record year in and year out. So he warrants higher dollars.

I'm by no means saying Fisher is a better coach, just a more tested and proven coach.

Herman: $5mil
Fisher: $6.5mil

Agreed, Herman is only making $3M....I would be surprised if it is $5M. Offer $4-4.5, and ALL that comes with being at LSU - facilities, staff, recruiting in LA, etc. Jimbo will cost more....

Fair enough. Just depends on how interested Herman is in coming to LSU. If he is, $4.5-5M should be enough. If we have no Fisher to turn to, it might take a little convincing.

Bottom line, his resume does not warrant more than $5.5-6M at MOST. But you might have to overpay if thats the best option by far.

Taking Les' allstar team to Atlanta does not qualify him to be the HC at LSU.

Well Les wasn't gonna take them to Atlanta.

If Miles takes a job before we hire a HC that amount would be deducted from his buyout. I assume that would play a part in how much we offer the new HC.

That's very easy to say when it isn't your money.

Michigan offered Jim Harbaugh 6 years 48 mill (8 per year). Jim Harbaugh settled for 7 years 5 mill, with a 2 mill signing bonus plus a ton of other different perks and options and shite that total in the millions.

With that in mind, I'd offer Jimbo 6.5 mill (cut I know FSU would try to go 6 mill) and Herman 5 mill.

I would guess that LSU would probably go to 7 for Jimbo and at least 6 for Herman if they needed to.

Ultimately I want Herman, and he would be cheaper to get than Jimbo.

Top money? I'd say 7 mil for either Jimbo or Herman. If they both agreed to the same money, it'd be a hard choice but a good problem to have. It would work in our favor if they both were interested.

Offer 5.5m to TH and 6m to JF. See how it plays out.

He's young. Rather have someone that could possibly be in BR for the long haul.
