What was Bill Belichicks record at Cleveland again??
36-44 with one Playoff appearance. CEO was 3-21 and never sniffed any postseason play.
if not for that 6-2 magical run with USC he would be 10-25 as HC.
If USC saw something in him that was HC material they would have kept him.

This shows how bad the program was under Miles
Are you fricking kidding? We won less than 9 games just twice in 11 years and thats while playing in the hardest division in cfb. In no way was our program bad we werent where we wanted be but we were not bad

we can't get Herman or Fisher. Then maybe
No not even then. If Jimbo and Herman say no you go after Venables or Fuentes. You dont fire Les Miles and replace him with Ed Orgeron.

You would be ok with firing Les Miles for Ed Orgeron?
Orgeron would do anything to pump up the offense- he would let his OC run the show. Miles was never going to let that happen!

You mean the same way he did at Ole Miss?

I think the only way O gets the job is if he finishes with no more than 2 losses, and either playing bama close or winning. If he does that I'm in, there is no excuse the talent is in place. for what it's worth i think he pulls it off. with good OC he could do something special.

So if CEO goes 6-2 and wins the bowl game you want him as the HC?
Nothing more I can say about that. Don't really know what to say. Speechless would be a better term

Absolutely not.

if Herman and Fisher said no why not? I failed to mention that I the above post

Because there are much better candidates out there than O besides those two.

Coach O is a fall-back option.
When was the last time a once-failed, now interim coach ended up getting the job on a permanent basis and doing well? I'd love to know. Any examples welcome, including NFL, NCAAF ... hell, give me basketball or baseball examples, if necessary.

I am truly fascinated by this. Les miles built this team, orgeron going 6-2 means absolutely nothing to me. Go 8-0 with a championship and MAYBE.
I was ready for miles to go, but if we end up with O, it'll be a net=net at best.

Clay Helton went 5-2 as interim at USC. Now they realize winning over the long term as a head coach is a whole different ballgame.
Posted on 9/29/16 at 9:31 pm to SportTiger1
i think Les would have finished with 3-4 losses. if O had only 2 his coaching would be an improvement over les, but it's only a small sample. Beating bama is something Les hadn't done since 2011

Maybe but not the point. Les built this squad. We've seen O build a team. It was horrendous.
Maybe he would be better than he was at ole miss. Maybe. But I doubt he could go from winning 25% of his games to 80%. It's just not plausible.
There are 20 other coaches more qualified to take over this job.

Dabo, I suppose.
Although I agree with most others here - Orgeron should not be an option.

No No I was not advocating CEO to get the job if he goes 6-2
The poster above me at the time was saying that and I didn't really know how to respond to that.

Didnt Chizik get a rough welcome at Auburn for his prior coaching record? He took em to 14-0 and a NC
Didn't he get fired the next year after can left? LOL

U mutha frickin SC. let's keep an open mind

God damn just think about how fricking retarded that would sound. LSU would be making the dumbest decision in college football if they keep CEO as full time head coach.
