F. King Alexander and LSU hiring a new coach

Since F. King Alexander torpedoed the firing/hiring of Miles/Fisher last year, why would he allow LSU to spend the money necessary to hire a top flight coach? I don't!

Why would the university spend money? It's TAF

300 thousand or 350 thousand is all the University contributes to the Head coach. This is his base salary. TAF pays the rest or most of the rest.

Huh??

According to the salary database for state employees, Louisiana was only paying Miles $300,000

Precisely, Alexander alluded last November that TAF money was the same as university money. What is to prevent him from nixing a deal made to get a top flight coach because he thinks the price is too high.

First of all: Coaching Changes Board
Now to your question: Les is now fired, which is what took up the biggest chunk of change in the controversy last year. Additionally, he knows he looked like a jackass last year and won't let that happen again. Alleva also has been clear in saying it's HIS decision this time. Seems to be acknowledging the gaff last year and that he won't let it happen again.

It would make no sense for him to try go cheap now since LSU owes $10 million just for firing someone.

Here are his comments from December:
Alexander acknowledges that concerns over the exorbitant cost of buying out Miles’ contract—$15 million plus an additional $2 million for his coaching staff—and hiring a new coach factored heavily into the decision.
"After the type of budget battle we went through this past spring we certainly do not need to be throwing tens of millions of dollars around under certain circumstances,”

F. King wasn't talking about the actual money. He was worried about the PERCEPTION that we were in a budget battle with the state yet we would drop $20 million to hire and fire a coach. That's it. PERCEPTION and pissing off his political buddies.

FKA has gone on record saying he would like to see an end to the trend of hyper-inflating coach salaries. I've actually heard "Someone has to start saying No to their constant demands for raises" come out of his mouth during some social events.
I doubt our next coach will come in as "The highest paid coach in CFB"... Hopefully that won't be a problem with getting our #1 target

At the end of last year's budget crisis a deal was made within the University that makes LSU one of (if not the) only schools where the Athletic Department subsidizes the University. So if Athletics doesn't make money neither does the school and to keep that big money coming in he needs to hire a big name, big money coach.

First, Your premise is incorrect.
Second, you know little about the process
Third, you repeat only what you have heard, you have no first hand information
Finally, read the many threads that have already discussed this issue before you reveal your lack of knowledge and research on the subject

You don't what?
Do you mean that you don't allow LSU to spend the money necessary to hire a top flight coach? How in the hell do you stop them, and why in the hell would you?
Do you mean that you don't spend the money necessary to hire a top flight coach? So? Why would you? Are you an athletic director at some university? Or do you have your own personal college football team?
What are you saying here that you don't do?

LSU's athletic department is one of a small few that do subsidize the university instead of the other way around, but that happened a long time before last year's budget crisis. Since at least the early 1980s, LSU athletics has received zero funding from the university or the state and has actually paid money TO the university general fund.

The BOS has final say so. There wasn't enough support last year to fire Miles.

Will he be here for that? I thought he was trying to get on Hillary's staff if she wins the election?
