3-21 SEC conference record. You don't magically turn into an elite coach a few years later.
The outpouring of fan support for Les Miles was detected by the LSU administration last year, and ultimately played a role in him being retained.
This is a golden opportunity for this football program - if Herman and Jimbo are realistic options, you go all out to get one of them in Baton Rouge. If LSU fans aren't careful, the administration may very well retain Orgeron after the end of the season - and we'll be right back in this same situation a few years from now.

"At Ole Miss, Orgeron recorded only two wins against teams with winning records (the 2005 and 2007 Memphis teams, which both finished at 7-5)—the fewest among active SEC coaches at the time. "

Was able to recruit well, but just couldn't put a consistent product on the field.....remind you of anyone ????

Bill Belichick was 36-44 at Cleveland and fired after a 5-11 season. Coaches never change man. J/S I know LSU has to go after Herman/Fisher, but if that don't work out........

Honestly, every goal that LSU had at the beginning of the year, aside from going undefeated and probably Fournette for Heisman, are still in reach. In fact, LSU would likely have needed to run the table from this point forward anyway to make it to Atlanta. So, if Bebe and the boys can accomplish that and win it all, he's the obvious choice. If not, then it will get very interesting. Bad pub aside for firing Miles before the midway point of the season, they have set themselves up well to make a great hire and they aren't going to screw it up by simply promoting from within. If coach is the man next year, it will be because he earned it.

On board without ever watching him coach a game here.

Ok. What happened on the field to make you say this?

C'mon...
I'm in support of the head guy as much as I've always been...especially so now that the current guy has had to step in under trying times. He, and the program, deserve nothing but total support from here on out this season.
That being said, if LSU doesn't sell its soul to retain the services of the BEST available coach, we will have entirely wasted the opportunity afforded us for having made this move four games into the season. In addition, if Oregeron was not on our staff and sitting in the seat, would ANYONE have suggested he replace Miles as Head Coach? If not, why not?
This really does feel like a moment like when we attempted to replace Charlie Mac back in 1980. We had what was likely the long term answer in Bo Rein, but on his death we were forced to go the Stovall route which was comfortable but ultimately not the right move and set us back. We need to avoid doing that a second time.

I love CEO but lets see what November holds.

Why not. It's other people's money.

I would love to see him succeed and get a 4 year contract to prove himself. I think that's only a 20% chance of it happening.

Our stock will never be higher. now is the time to make that home run hire. I love Coach O, but now is not the time to settle. Noone is off limits. Start at the top and make them say no.
