Boing!

That was more blitzing than we saw from Pelini all year.

Yes ... this is what a Tenuta D looks like. He is blitz happy, and blitzes from everywhere. I've heard it is one of the most complicated D play books in the country. I've gotten to see it for 6 football seasons at GT, and hopefully I'll get to see it more at LSU.

Heck he led GT to leading the NCAA in sacks this season. The reason people scored on GT is that our secondary wasn't great, which won't be a problem at LSU.

Yeah, but that video didn't show all the times Notre Dame picked up the blitz and burned Ga Tech for long TD's.

Oh, wait nevermind.

Wait, shite, I just watched the Maryland one. 4th and goal from the 19 he blitzed.

Didn't he know they could have sent a back out of the field.

The Miami opening kind of worries me.

That and the fact that they possibly have the greatest defensive recruiting class ever.

Miami will pay their DC $130k.

LSU will pay their DC $500-600k.

Which is the more attractive job?

DeWayne Walker is getting the most pub for that job at the moment.

I think our D will definitely improve if we end up with Tenuta. That said, we are also going to start seeing screen passes and whatnot going for TDs against us if he blitzes that damn much. I'd be surprised if he were THAT aggressive as our D coordinator next year, especially with 2 green corner backs.

What I liked in the video was all of the different looks that he gave the opposing team. Our defense lines up the same nearly every play, so the other teams know what they're getting as soon as we line up. A lot of the negative yardage plays on that video were caused by confusion on the offensive line, not necessarily the blitz itself. Plus, the defensive ends were flying off the corners, unlike the DEs for LSU. Pelini rathers a controlled pass rush off the ends (I have personally heard him say this) to eliminate passing lanes for the QB.

That being said, I really hope we get Tenuta and return to the aggressive style defense that we had under Saban. The lack of aggressiveness on defense has been my biggest complaint all year.

Not blitzing on that 4th and 10 against Arky, in overtime is something I will always be pissed about.

Actually, that was just a 4-man rush. But, the GT DEs made very quick work of the Maryland tackles.
