Is it illegal for a supply house to stop selling to a contractor because said contractor's former employer threatens to stop doing business with the them? And then they agree and shut down former employees account?

Is there a contract in place?

Unless you can prove its because of race, religion, sexual orientation, etc then no. Free Enterprise and all. Ever hear of a company with an exclusive distribution agreement? Basically the same thing.

Could be intentional interference with economic relationship/advantage. But not likely.

You have the freedom to sue anyone, for anything, at anytime.
However, it doesn't sound like a crime was committed here or you have grounds for damage. I would suspect the supply house has a "reserves the right to refuse service to anyone" clause somewhere in their terms or signage at the counter. It's a free country (for now) and if they choose your former employers business over yours then that is their choice.
Now, could you make a case against your former employer for their actions? Probably so but I am not sure what your damages are. You can buy material at a different supply house I assume that is equivalent (perhaps a different brand)?
Not much detail in the OP but that is my $.02

Admit you're gay and claim discrimination over sexual orientation.
