damn big blow to UT recruiting

2 names out there that might replace Cutcliffe are Doug Marrone and Kippy Brown.

hmmm I know sean thinks highly of him and he's done good things with little talent along the saints OL. UT would have to shell out some cash though

My money is on Adkins (OL Coach)
I think Taylor told them to hire him as OC or he was gone. He thought he should have been hired in 06, and he's probably right.
The fact that Taylor is leaving tells me one of two things:
1.) Taylor is letting UT know he is serious.
2.) Fulnmer told him who he is hiring.

Is this the the beginning of the end for Fulmer?

Honestly, it looks like it. Losing Cutcliffe and Trooper. Poor recruiting class so far.

beginning of the end started a good while ago for Phil. Getting Cut back bought him a few extra years, but now that he's lost him he's in trouble.

Yeah, I've been thinking that for a couple years now. Reminds me of Miami. First underperforming with top talent, then struggling to get the top talent. Wouldn't suprise me a bit if they have a losing season the next two years and Phat Phil is fired after the 2009 season.
The end is near.

I would love to see them get Malzahn, but it won't happen. They are gonna get a Tennessee man for the job. It's how they do things. All the fans up here hate it.

This really makes me think that there may have been a falling out because Trooper wasn't going to get the OC job. Maybe not a falling out, but I would've been pissed had I not gotten it.
That being said, I wouldn't have given it to Trooper if I was Fulmer.
It will be interesting to see where he goes. UT has looked the same on offense for the better part of a decade.
Nail in the coffin for Phil?

Don't worry, the Vols have the best defensive player in the country next year, Eric Berry.

Precisely what happened.
quote:I said that a major player like UT shouldn't go with an unproven commodity. Fulmer could have controlled the offense while breaking in Taylor, though.

Cutcliffe (power run/rythm pass)--> Randy Sanders (power run/rythm pass)--> Cutcliffe the sequel
UT fans and boosters want to see something new, and if he hires from within it'll be the same offense.

Nail in the coffin for Phil?
Definitely.

Those were two pretty terrible situations he was in. I don't think he is a world beater but it seams his style is in line with what the fat one likes to do.

Good 'patch'= SEC East Champs
That said, Phil leads off the SEC as on the hot seat, maybe by default. But is any other SEC coach on the the HOT SEAT????
UT plays-
OOC (UAB, UCLA, NIU, Wyoming);
SEC (Miss. St, Auburn, SEC EAST)
UAB, Bama, NIU, MISS ST, UK, Wyoming, UF are at home
UCLA, Vandy, Auburn, UGA, South Car, on the road
My guess is that he can win either 8/9 with that schedule.

He better win 8/9 or he'll be on the cutting block.
Out of UF, UGA, AU, Bama, or at South Carolina I think they'd be lucky to get 2 wins.
