I know most don't care about LSU, but that game and then the Bama beat down was the worst two weeks of football ever.
Man, I don't really remember it this way but those games were actually the same week. LSU/Bama was 1/9 (Monday) and Saints/49ers was 1/14 (Saturday).
Has to be the worst 5 day period in LA sports history.

This thread again? Every fricking year

I attended that game and have not attended another Saints game since then. The loss is not what kept me away but the way the SF fans acted before, during and after the game. It was at that game I decided the NFL was not for me. Now, another 49er, Kapernick has solidified my decision

Getting crushed by Minny in that first-ever playoff game wasn't a walk in the park, that's for sure.

I firmly believe us winning and beating NE would have given brees more recognition, no desperate 2012 defensive signings, and csp not being suspended for a full year.

Absofreakinglutely, saints would have Lombardi #2 chilling on airline highway. That sucked so much arse. Even the Giants were happy the saints lost because they knew the skull fricking that was going to happen in the dome..... Again.

I wasn't there but the stories about how bad our fans were treated at that game have gone into legendary status. By far the most devastating Saints loss I have ever experienced.

It's devastating because EVERYONE knew Roman Harper couldn't cover Vernon Davis man-to-man.

Hurts me the most, and incidentally, Goddell's cocksucking arse aside, began the decline.

I was unlucky enough to have attended that game. It has scarred me for life. The 49ers fans who were in attendance at that game were human fricking scum. I will never have any sympathy or respect for any 49er fan again. I thought Chicago in 06 was bad, but this blew it out of the water. I haven't gone to an away game since.

Any details how bad the fans were? I remember people mentioning it before.

I was positive we'd take both football championships in college and nfl

There are a lot of these types of threads. Like beer. Some you like seeing again and some you don't but its still beer.

When you watch any 49ers game on TV, it looks like nothing but gang members in the seats.

Lots of katrina, Louisiana's a "shithole", and flooding jabs. They got extremely excited when Pierre Thomas got knocked out and were very vocal in their support of knocking out more players. When Davis scored that final TD some niners fans threw their drinks that got all over my dad and I. There were more unpleasantries but those are the ones that stick to me to this day.

Yes, the worst by far. Chicago game comes in second. Pierre T played his arse off that game.

The Loss to the Rams in the 80's on a last second MikeLansford FG that kept us out of the playoffs was pretty bad.

Absolutely. Not only would we have beaten the shite out of the Giants, the entire bounty gate scandal never would have happened.
Goodell wouldn't have touched a franchise with 2 superbowls in three years. He would've found another scapegoat.
That loss literally cost us our golden age, dynasty years and we still haven't recovered as a franchise from it.
The fourth quarter euphoria of expecting to win and then the immediate mind frick of losing was just icing on the cake.

Yep, it good easily been a second Lombardi trophy

We would have beaten the brakes off of the Giants and won another SB!
Dammit, why do you have to bring up old shite?
