No question. I have zero doubt we beat NYG at home and go back to the Super Bowl if we hold on in that game. Who knows what happens against the Pats, but I feel like it would've been close one way or the other to another Lombardi

pats defense was not great that year at all. we were the greatest show on turf that year and broke NFL records for offense. we beat them in the SB.

Man... I miss being able to say "it's a home game we got this, no way we're losing in the dome!" Now look where this team is...

All of this. My whole life I have hated them.

It hurts the most because we would have won the Superbowl again

Yes, I think the '11 SF loss will leave a scar deeper than the one I got from my hip replacement that same year

No question in my mind that team was winning the super bowl if not for alex fricking smith.
I will never get over that loss.
I will never get over that loss.

Yes.
We win and Bountygate never happens. No way we lose to NY in the dome that year, and we win the Super Bowl.
Goodell is not going to assassinate the SupernBowl champs.

No.
It's second to the 1983 loss to the Rams.

The field goal to win the game were the Rams only offensive points

It's devastating because EVERYONE knew Roman Harper couldn't cover Vernon Davis man-to-man.
That wasn't no damn Roman Harper. That was that piece of garbage Malcolm Jenkins. Gave up a 47 yard catch on that last drive. I'm glad that scumbag is gone. He was responsible for everything.

We had no business losing that game.

With 5 turnovers we most certainly did.

Like my entire position as a fan changed that day, any passion/unwavering support I was providing was killed..... sports aren't the same anymore after that week

Lost in that 2011 49er game was how well our defense had played until that final drive. The worst Saints loss ever and I'm a Day 1 guy (1967).

They played fine until the 4th where SF scored on their final 3 drives putting up 200+ yards and 16 points

I'll never get the image of Alex Smith out running our defense out of my head.

The 2011 saints team averaged 41 points at home. Think about that 4-1 that's insane. Best saints team ever. Even better than the super bowl team. Saints could've been a dynasty with that win.
