Aranda has played it about as vanilla as he'll ever get while implementing his new 3-4. Arden Key said today that Aranda is finally implementing new phases of his scheme this week and that it's about to get fun.

I think he has played well, but simply gets winded easily. He admitted this after Wisky. He needs to get in aerobic shape. He is strong as an ox. Losing 20-25 lbs could not hurt and he would still be over 330.

I thought the same thing, we have seen hardley any blitzes he has shown in the past. That could be because of personal or just holding back. I would like to think he is just getting his guys to understand the elementary things before the SEC games start. If that is true Arden Key might get 20 sacks.

Valentine is a huge difference maker when he's on the field. He's out of shape, but seems dedicated to fix that.

But think of all the DLs we played Saturday that we didn't last week. Sci Martin, Ed Alexander, Frank Herron, Logan? Even Bower was lining up all over the place. And I may be forgetting 1 or 2. If we can have a nice rotation of fresh bodies on the DL without giving up much production to keep Godchaux, Neal, Valentine, etc...fresh during key drives, Aranda is gonna have a field day moving Key, Beckwith, Adams, White, Jackson around to do damage. I feel like once we get in conference play, we're gonna see a lot more TFL from our back 7 or 8 coming from all over the place.

Donnie Alexander blitzed on 2 out of 3 plays back to back I believe. Basically blew up the first and on the second he caused Roc to run laterally. Imagine Key or Beckwith running untouched like he did... THAT'S A SCARY SITE

Only allowing 14.5 points per game. I'm signed up for this ride.

Valentine is dominant when he's rested. He can only play about three plays in a row, though. Gilmore is wholly inadequate. He should only be used for spot duty but we have no choice right now.

Alexander played some nose this week, and he looked strong enough to take Gilmore's place. However, he has to be able to take the double team. Right now, when engaged with the center it comes as a complete surprise to him when one of the guards hits him. He's getting knocked to the side. As soon as he learns to brace for this he'll take Gilmore's place. Until then, we've got troubles.

There is practice condition and then there is game condition. He is a big sob and with 2 games under belt, conditioning should be there.

True, but don't forget where he was and is now. Although still overweight, in the last year he probably shed 30+ lbs.

His efforts of getting back to LSU is something we should 've thankful for. Without him thing would be bad at that position.

But yep, he needs to run routes with Etling after practice, lok

How can he be so out of shape. He just came through fall camp. Sounds like coaches aren't doing their job of making sure he is ready to play. I watched him for a bunch of plays Sat. Not impressed.

I think Aranda has eased the D into the new scheme nicely so far. Like I said in another post. They are holding opponets to 14.5 points/game and they haven't even really blitzed or got aggressive yet. I think once Valentine gets in a little better shape that's gonna open up Key to blitz like hell.

He is finding that he is out of shape and needs frequent rests. That should get better as season moves on.

Has been most effective of the NT's at plugging the middle. Double teams are necessary and he consumes blocking which is allowing KB,DR,JA, and RJ to make plays up the middle. He just creates a spot you have to run around in the center of the line if he does nothing else.

They are putting Godchaux at NT on 3rd and long passing downs for more rush speed.

If we did not have him we would be much weaker up the middle on run defense.
