I know nothing about Aranda's experience in defending the spread. that was one thing the chief was good at. since we converted to the 3-4 and are playing heavier guys up the middle will that present big problems in covering all of their receivers?

my thinking is that JSU will get their yards and will score some points.

It will be interesting to see how we match up when the quality teams spread it out later in the year. Not so much with JSU.

My guess would be to run a variant 4-2-5.

I'm not overly concerned about the defense. I think they will be fine.

Problem is that with Les' sad excuse for an offense, if the defense isn't perfect we can lose.

Quality spread teams? I have concerns regarding your DL and LB speed, but don't discount our offense as not being quality. We will have one of the best offenses you face this season, regardless of division. Our QB is the best on your schedule, and our backs and receivers could start at a lot of P5 schools.

If Josh Barge plays (questionable), we will score enough to make it interesting. If he doesn't, or is playing hurt, it will depend on whether or not someone else steps up.

The real question is how we handle your defense. Your defense is legit. They didn't cost you the game against Wisky... but make no mistake, our offense is better than Wisconsin's.

Well then LSU better score a bunch if JSU has the best offense we will face all year. GL!

Yes I'm concerned because you really have to practice for it and hopefully the D staff has prepared for it. But I'm really really concerned in defending if our Offense can't get 1st downs and forces the Def to be on the field 3 times longer than they should be.

Defending the spread is hard enough but it will be really tough if the defense is on the field for 75% of regulation.

I think our run game will be tough so that will burn some clock and help our Def.

LSU fans have a long tradition of discounting the ability of our competitors. they are often wrong, but not always.

I hope it's a good game. I believe y'all are going to have some passing yards tonight and will score some points.

Like I said... if we don't score much, it is the result of LSU having one of the best defenses in the country, not because we don't have a quality offense.

Laugh all you want, but if you had Eli Jenkins at QB, you would be 1-0 and the game against Wisconsin wouldn't have been close. Josh Barge would start at wide receiver for LSU. Our 3 preseason all-conference OL (one AA) are good, but your DL is otherworldly.

We have 4 players on offense who are on the Stats FCS All-America team, with two being first team. Add in that these guys are seniors and have played a lot of football, and saying that they will be one of the best offenses you will face this season is a fair statement.

It all comes down to how we handle the battle in the trenches. Those three OL have the talent and technique to play against LSU, but you can't coach size and speed. You may shut us down, but it isn't because we don't have a quality offense.

Eli Jenkins is the Stats first team All American QB. He is a legit dual-threat QB, with almost 9000 total career yards and 66 TD's.

That isn't trolling.

Who on your schedule is better? Chad Kelley may be a better pure passer, but not nearly the running threat. In our offense I wouldn't trade for him.

Not really concerned about JSU's scheme, but I would like to see our first 3 and out today. The offense did the defense no favors, but we couldn't get off the field either.

Defending the spread usually isn't an issue for us. Running right at us over and over for 2-4 yd time chewing running plays not with a little play action stuff to the TE is our Achilles heal.

Look at the dogshit competition y'all play. He'd have half that in a power 5 conference not named the Big 12.

I am. UW knew the LB's we have used to be ends. Now they drop in cover and read a key and react. All together different thought process. That's why they were so successful over the middle. A good spread team may be very hard to defend. And with a ton of three and outs... May be a 18 pack game for me. But. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

If LSU can sustain drives and put up TDs, it will naturally give the defense confidence and we will handle the spread pretty well. If the offense struggles, the defense will take risks and it will be a long day

I was thinking more in the line of your receivers matching up with LSU's DBs and how much time your QB will have to execute.
