Should Miles start Etling as a last ditch effort to save his job?

For what reason? What exactly would Etling have done differently behind that OL on Saturday?

It would show a sign of him admitting he was wrong. I don't think he's done that since he's been here.

Eta: my response may lead to believe j think Harris is he problem. I do not. They play callin and O line are more troublesome than our QB.

Isn't he hurt? If Harris is benched we will never get him back if back up doesn't work.

Most every coach in the nation would have tried every QB and player in the BCSNC against the tide- not CLM

So no he likely will not try to do anything

All the rest of us would absolutely be giving the other QB's reps this week and start anyone except BH

course you gotta fix your OL problem or even Dan Marino in his prime cannot help us

ditto. Needs to watch for a few games minimum. More reps aren't going to fix him.

I seriously feel like I missed the part of Etling's career that he was good. Was it before or after he was benched at Purdue?

Start him? Not yet. However, I'd get him some game action to a) see what he can do and b) light a fire under Brandon's arse.

When are people going to learn that Tom Brady or Cam Newton would suck running miles offense. You can put literally anyone in there and they'll look bad, this isn't Harris' fault

More reps is why he's so unconfident in games. LSU wasted the first half of last season smashing Fournette into Heisman stat territory instead of letting Fournette get a good chunk of yards and letting Harris throw the ball around to get some confidence. Instead, Harris only threw about 15 times a game last year in the first half, and was forced to throw more in high pressure situations, and lack of reps really killed him.

How many blowouts does LSU have to waste?

I would give him a series or two in the first half

Start, no. Play, most definitely. I'd even give Scott some playing time.

ETA: Saban used 3 QBs against USC. LSU should be able to use 3 against Jacksonville State.

I'd give him a roll, why not can't be much worse. If he doesn't throw the ball late and high there's a better chance Dural and Dupre survive the season

I have that same feeling with Harris.

If he had a Peyton Manning type QB, he would probably try running the option or anything to minimize the abilities of whoever it was. Miles is anti-logical and has proven time and again he stymies growth and simply cannot develop a QB.
So the odds of Etling succeeding any more than BH are minimal, to say the least.

Here's a link to his highlights.. one from spring game and then additional from purdue

i certainly don't think he'd be terrible if we had to use him at some point.

Give him some PT, but we live or die with Harris in all likelihood.
