The last nail in your coffin was if somehow you woke up and had Mother Teresa helping you.

and they're sometimes pretty lax about what they consider a miracle.

Didn't she refuse treatment to people in her care, or prevent them from going to hospitals, because she told them that it would bring them closer to God?
And then when SHE got sick, she flew to a good hospital?

I've heard for years that she's not as nice as she's been in it to be.
Supposedly she'd turn her back on children born out of wedlock.
If true that makes her pretty evil and fricking bullshite. Children have no control how they're brought into this world.
I'd like to think it isn't true.

She also flew to Ireland to sabotage a referendum that would allow women the right to seek a divorce. And then when princess Diana got divorced was quick to congratulate her.

She is far from a saint.

This. All you need to do is apply basic logic to an argument like that.
I'll believe the thousands of prominent citizens from all over the world and the Nobel committee over the smear campaign by militant atheists.

The same Nobel committee that gave Obama and Yasser Arafat peace prizes ?

They were pretty open about their reasoning. Neither was worthy, but that's a matter of opinion. Mother Teresa's humanitarian work is a question of fact, and I don't know of any case where the Nobel committee played fast and loose with the facts.

There are some stories that don't paint her in the best light (although some of these "sources" would appear to have an axe to grind), but there are many more that substantiate her reputation as a good, selfless, servant of the poor and downtrodden. I think any reasonable mind would conclude she was just as human and prone to imperfection as the rest of us, but also much more exemplary of a life devoted to others than the overwhelming majority of people to have lived in modern times.

Christopher Hitchens has an axe to grind, but her "miracles" are laughable frauds at best. So, her being given this treatment logically has to say something too. It's easy PR for an organization getting destroyed on so many fronts.

There is an entire process I was listening to yesterday on the Catholic Channel on XM Radio. I don't fully understand it all, but rest assured this is something that tremendous thought has been put into over the 2,000 years of the Catholic Church's existence. It sounded to me like it was less about what we would define as an actual "miracle," i.e. a supernatural act, but more about someone recovering from a situation in which they had tremendously low chances of recovering after Mother Theresa prayed on their behalf. We have all heard of stories of people making miraculous recoveries from illnesses that no one thought they would recover from. I think that's more in line with what we're talking about here.
But by all means, if you're demanding video evidence of her walking on water or something similar, continue to evoke Hitchens, etc.

If being a Saint involves a process of being judged and declared by men, then it means you're not actually a Saint.

I think you people are overthinking this stuff. Let me try to help.
In sports, there's the Hall of Fame. In Catholicism, there's sainthood. The Hall of Fame is for those athletes whose peers agree performed their craft with excellence. Sainthood is for those Catholics whose peers agree performed their craft with excellence.
Got it?

In the article it talks about people praying to her. I don't think Bo Jackson gets that at Auburn.
