Finally got our pistols. M&P Shield 9mm for me and Ruger LCP .380 for the wife. I'm in Avoyelles. Anyone know where's the closest place to get our carry and conceal?

It's not something you can just go and pick up

I think there is a place on N. Bolton in Ellic, but I am really not sure if they provide that service.

If you know somebody it takes a little less than an hour.

This thread will NOT turn out the way you had hoped.

I'm more afraid of someone trying to be a hero, or just accidentally discharging their weapon during the process, and shooting me with one of these pocket pistols than I am if the bad guys.

1. Sorry to offend so many people by not using the correct TD language.
2. Probably have shot more long guns than most people replying to this thread. Just not a lot of experience with hand guns.
3. Don't be scared of me or my wife accidentally shooting up. Be afraid of the Democrats shooting you on purpose.
4. Thanks AlxTgr...Haven't seen you in Spring Bayou lately. It's clear as hell right now!!!!
Now let the OB ragging begin.
Thanks,

You made a good choice for a CC pistol but I need to ask - does your wife have any handgun shooting experience? The LCP may be one of the hardest and least fun guns I have ever fired. But they make for a decent reliable concealed piece.
I haven't ever read a story of this happening before so I don't have that same fear. There have been infinitely more stories of officers accidentally hitting bystanders than concealed carriers doing the same. I would be interested to see if you can even find one story of it happening.

No more than me really. I heard it was hard to operate for most women. We'll see how she handles it and maybe sell for something else. Basically going to be a purse pistol for her.

The place on N. Bolton is Southern Shooters, and they do offer the class.

Was this her idea? Purse is a bad place to carry

A glock or similar pistol is probably the absolute worst to carry in a purse. Have you ever seen inside a woman's purse? All kinds of dumb shite that can possibly grab a trigger. And if you say carry it without one in the chamber, I will automatically disregard any opinion you may have. A purse gun needs to have a manual safety. My wife carries a S&W Bodyguard in her purse because of this.
ETA: Its obviously not the ideal place to carry but it beats the hell out of not carrying.

Purse is a bad choice for concealed carry for 2 huge reasons. 1, if someone snatches her purse, you lose your gun and access to it if the threat escalates beyond purse snatching. Also, if the time comes for her to need the gun, digging through a purse is the last thing you want to be doing. I would say buy her a Kahr CM9 if she wants something really small and to use that instead of the .380.

Purse carry is useless in my opinion. Imagine yourself carrying in a briefcase. Glock is a far more dependable gun than the 2 choices you stated that's all I'm saying.
