Hate him all you want, but that is a terrible decision by MLS to make that video.

That was awesome. They shite on a defensive mid for not scoring or getting assists.

The only people who will see or care about that video are Americans who already hate De Jong. If someone else did see it, they wouldn't give a frick.

It was their dumbass fault to sign him in the first place.

The league should be above doing shite like that.

I wonder how closely European players follow MLS on social media.
I'm going to say "not at all."
But I agree the league should probably be above things like this.

That doesn't even matter because the word is already out about what happened, even on BBC sport.
It's another amateur hour incident at MLS HQ.
Google MLS
and this is the first article that shows up

When Nigel de Jong completed his move from LA Galaxy to Galatasaray on Wednesday, the Dutch international was given an unusual send-off by Major League Soccer (MLS). The MLS tweeted a video of the 31-year-old's time at Galaxy, where he lasted just 18 games - and it was not exactly the standard tribute to a departing player. His "highlights" in the North American competition, summed up in the 66-second video, included three yellow cards and one red card, as well as a foul on Portland Timbers' Darlington Nagbe that saw him retrospectively suspended for three games. De Jong, who has not played for the Netherlands since their unsuccessful Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, joined Turkish club Galatasaray on a two-year deal as a free transfer and, without him, the video says Galaxy will "definitely be a better team". The tweet has since been deleted.

I think the video was great. It simply reinforces the reputation that De Jong is a piece of shite. The MLS can sell itself to past their prime foreign players using the many positive examples of players who enjoyed living and playing in the U.S.
How many foreign players have become permanent residents of the U.S. after playing in the MLS? I would think that would have more influence on foreign players than the De Jong video.

Maybe most players think like we do: de Jong is a pos, I don't care, frick him.
