I rewatched the game on youtube and came away with a few thoughts. Looking at Wisconsin's offense, they do a good job utilizing the TE's. Divinity and company need to be ready. I wasn't impressed at all with Clement, but he was injured most of the season. He only had a few bursts, but nothing to scare you. I'm sure he will want to prove last year was a fluke. USC's nose tackles penetrated all game and blew up many running plays. Valentine and Godchaux finna eat. Wisconsin's pass blocking was solid, but they are susceptible to speed rushers on the edge and Key should exploit that.

Wisconsin's strength is on defense and they are well coached. I was impressed with their LB play and how Aranda disguised delay blitzes. Cichy had three consecutive sacks. Two were due to OL doing a piss poor job picking up the blitz, but the third was all hustle. Their corners are solid, but were consistently beat on long routes downfield. We should exploit that, but I hope we don't just settle for long pass plays like last season. If the LSU Oline can pick up the LB blitzes, Harris should be able to have a nice passing day. Their tackles weren't getting a lot of push up front, but they control their gaps well and were hard to run inside. Also Wisconsin's D doesn't miss many tackles. This will be a good test early for our offense, but I like our chances.

TLDR Wisconsin offense is average, solid defense. LSU should fare well!

I know I only have practice film to base this on, but Divinity seems like one of our fastest linebackers. The athleticism is there, and I'm sure Aranda will simplify his role to avoid confustion.

It's hard to look at old Wisky games and try and figure out how good they'll be.

Their strength has been defense and we just took their Coach

True, but their returning defense is experienced and still solid no matter who they put at DC.

LSU seems to match up well against straight forward offenses. It's the gimmicky ones ones they have more trouble with, even FCS teams can move the ball on them in the spread.

Their leading tackler from last year is out Saturday so that may hurt them.

Obviously we all know they lost Aranda and will be starting a new QB. But another key question for your assessment is: How many returning starters Off / Def from the Bowl Game ?

OLB Vince Biegel-Sr

Biegel is a stud. Extremely smart and talented. Seems like he's been sacking quarterbacks forever. He is my biggest concern. If LSU can keep him from Harris, I think Brandon could start the season off really well.

You can't base anything from two years ago. That would be like Wisconsin fans thinking our 2014 team will be the same as our 2016 team. I sure hope we aren't at least.
