Eh? You will have a blast...several thousand tailgates to choose from, you will stop @ several, but will return to the best before game time to finish your experience....come hungry & sober, leave full as a tick and acting like a drunk sailor...nothing like it anywhere in the CFB world...

OP, as one who learned this lesson the hard way, with you bringing your woman, be SURE and pack a roll of toilet paper. There are plenty of bathrooms around campus but with well over 100,000 in attendance drinking all day long, all the bathrooms run out. I'd still rent a car since you are down for so many days, and would recommend a run into New Orleans & the French Quarter. Just give yourself a good day to recover as there are well over 500+ bars there for good reason. Check back closer to the game but this should give you a running start. And as a reminder, no umbrellas are allowed in the stadium & no glass containers anywhere....plastic geaux cups are what we use & they are allowed any where on campus except in the stadium. And when it comes to police officers, your best response is Yes Sir & turn & walk in the other direction. Being only 22 and not knowing if you show your age or not, do bring a picture ID, for New Orleans in particular.

'Ever since we beat y'all in The French and Indian War of 1812 y'all have been trying to suck up to us. smh.'
You do realize that the majority of the people who live in south Louisiana, Cajuns, were the French that lost to the brittish after the French and Indian war right? So technically we lost.

I thought about renting a car but our hotel is only 6miles away. We are just south east of LSU Campus. We are only down for 5 days. We are both 22 years old.
As a recent grad, here are my recs just for Baton Rouge:
- Eat at The Chimes (Basically on-campus)
- Eat/Drink at Zippys
- Eat at Magpie Cafe next to Zippys (a bit hipstery but hot chicks and the food is delicious)
- Eat at Louies (right of campus, 24hr Diner)
- Drink at Freds/Bogies (Can walk from the stadium in like 20-25 min)
- Go see the Tiger cage next to the stadium
- Walk the LSU lakes preferably early in the morning
- Tour the Campus on your own, the quad is very beautiful (by the bell tower)
- Downtown is kinda neat, I'm sure someone can Chime in more there.

Im a canuck living in S Ont and an LSU alum. All good advice and I think it was on the 2nd page some said to take in the band and team walking down the hill to the stadium. Make sure you take that in. If you want some more advice post an email and I will be happy to respond. I am planning on going to ole pi** game in Oct.
You will have a blast, S LA is as passionate about football as canucks are about hockey. Enjoy it will be a blast and like nothing you have ever seen before.
BTW bout that 1812 thing we invaded DC and set fire the white house ;) And I think in the end it was a draw.

Simple advice would be to get to campus early (you can google LSU campus layout) and simply walk around introduce yourselves as visitors from Canada coming to experience what u heard was the greatest CFB venue in the US. Tailgate crews will eat that up and roll out the red carpet for you. If you can coordinate your Gameday attire to incorporate both a Canadian symbol with LSU gear it will make it easier for the tailgate crews to understand (some might be pretty well sloshed by the time u get there).
I've sent a couple of groups of Canadian colleagues to their first college football games at Tiger Stadium with this same advice. They returned dumbfounded and amazed at what they experienced.
Simply, the best food and the best people they'd ever come across.
You're going to have fun.

Just curious, why Baton Rouge? Why choose LSU out of all the other college (and NFL) venues out there??
You will not be disappointed

When I was younger my dad took me to the Fiesta Bowl in Phoenix, AZ. I had been to many NFL games but never a college football game. The teams playing then were Ohio State and Notre Dame. I instantly fell in love with college football. The marching bands, the intensity, traditions, and pagentry. Don't get me wrong, I love the NFL but college is much more exciting and you get a better experience.
The first game I watched on tv was LSU vs Bama and after seeing the venue and the crowd, I was hooked. I also thought the jerseys were nice,I did not know much about college ball at that time
There is also a lot of history in Baton Rouge and New Orleans and I figured it would be quite the cultural shock to come down and see it, something out of the norm.
