A healthy Bradford is light years ahead of AJ.
ETA: AJ is in a perfect place for him. No pressure, he can play good enough to not cost you a game. Has great WR and good RB to help.

I disagree but it would be hard for us to agree on this one anyway - and that is ok.

I think he should be a starter somewhere as well.
He's in the last year of his contract. He'll absolutely start for someone next year.
I'm hoping it's the saints so that we can witness a biblical melt

I'm fullly aware that teams aren't jumping over each other trying to sign him. But I really think he can and will be a good starter one day.
Why don't y'all think he can do that?

AJ filled in for Andy last year and did a good job. I think I'd need to see him more as a starter before I could say who he's better than. Luckily for us he's a solid backup if Dalton goes down again.

I don't think he has the arm to consistently make the throws.
I think he knows the game well enough and the games slowing down for him. I just don't think he has the arm yet.
To me he is Don Strock, great backup, great guy to have on the team, you need him on your team but not as a starter.

I've been trying to think of a good comparison for AJ McCarron as far as professional players go.
Kyle Orton?
Jason Campbell?
Chad Henne?

I thought the exact same thing. At Alabama, and especially against LSU, his arm wasn't strong enough to make long throws to the sidelines. He sorta floated the ball.
In the games he played last year, it really looked like he could zip the ball anywhere he wanted. I specifically remember thinking "holy shite AJ, where did this arm come from?"

Matt Flynn. Capable backup who will probably never be a regular starter but will probably get paid $$$.

Ok?
And how many games did those guys get to start? Campbell started 80 games. 87 TDs and 60 INTs. I don't think AJ would have an INT% as high as that.

Who would you compare him to?

Yeah Colt McCoy is my final answer
Not great arms
Winners
Won't kill your team
With right weapons can be successful

AJ highlights from YouTube(all 9 of them lol)
The song alone is worth watching the video.
I think he has PLENTY arm.

quote:Y'all keep listing guys who throw damn near as many INTs as TDs. I think at the very least, AJ is going to protect the ball. I think he's also shown the ability to make plays and throw guys open. He isn't tentative at all and shows really nice pocket awareness.

I don't think any of us are saying he's a must have. But I do think he'll be an asset for a team in the future. And not in a backup roll the entire time.

Please name the team (other than Denver) where AJ has a legitimate shot to supplant the current starter.
