So, how many posts before this segues into a "Bands/Artists I Don't Like, And Neither Should You" thread?
Oh, and the correct answer is Madonna. Do I hate her? No. Does she have some good music? Sure, there's a few songs of hers I think are catchy. But, can she truly stack up against her musical peers? I don't really think so, TBH...

Gotta disagree with Springsteen. He's not my "go to" band/artist when getting my musical fix, but in concert, he can work an audience with absolutely no bells & whistles, which is not an easy feat when you're playing 3-hour shows. He's one guy, love him or hate him, who doesn't rest on his laurels & basks in the praise he gets...

I hate these kinds of discussions but it's Elvis. He was a gross by-product of the record companies that repackaged 'negro' music and sold it to white people.

Did we really need a spin off thread regarding the most overrated artist? There are probably ten dozen threads on this one subject.

Bee Gees, hands down.
I disagree, and I wouldn't say the Bee Gees are "underrated" either, but more typecast. Most people just think "that high pitch disco band." They are so much more than that.

Springsteen and Bon Jovi. It's the Jersey factor. Joan Jett, Garth Brooks, Whitney Houston
Also every rapper, even the lowest rated ones.

Please... Pat Boone was homogenized pablum for a white audience, not Elvis.
Aside from the fact that he was a Caucasian, everything about Elvis was rooted in AA culture - his food, his clothes, living in the projects, his taste in cars and his taste in music. Early Elvis played the songs he loved, 90% of which were negro R&B.
It's like saying Chuck Berry was a sellout because his R&B was slightly countrified.
