Does anyone remember when Popeyes had cornbread on the menu?

I never had it but I remember a Popeyes commercial from the early to middle eighties where a little black kid says "I likes the cornbread." As kids we always thought the commercial was funny. When did the remove it from the menu?

I don't remember that? They've always had biscuits.

Must be pre 1997. That's as far back as I can vividly remember.

I don't ever remember cornbread but some stores had items available that others did not.
Used to be several with fried chicken livers.

Grew up eating those tacos. They were awesome.

There are still a few serving chicken livers. Two are in Kenner: Williams near West Esplanade and Loyola near I-10. Every once in a while, I'm struck with a craving.....

I think you are thinking of the Cock of the Walk commercials. If I remember corn bread was their deal. And they had a little kid say, I like the cornbread.

No.
But, they used to have collard greens, and they were the tits.

don't remember any cornbread, but, they served a damn fine fast food breakfast platter back in the day.

I don't remember the cornbread, but I seem to recall some blueberry biscuits for a time? Am I dreaming?

Actually, I can recall when they didn't have biscuits. I don't remember cornbread, though.

Can't say that I remember them having cornbread.
Not sure how many of them serve breakfast but, if you can find one they have the best breakfast sandwiches ever.

Popeyes never served cornbread. Never in NOLA.
The one on Williams and W.Esplanade still does the fried chicken livers, which are great.
They used to make great onion rings and chicken nuggets. Now they do strips which are meh and the o-rings are a fail. The biscuits are usually terrible too. They used to be amazing when they glowed yellow at the top and were moist and buttery.
I really miss when they did breakfast in the 80's- the fried chicken biscuit they did is my all-time fave fast food item. I couldnt believe it when they stopped doing breakfast.

1990? They definitely did through the 80's. Stopped about 1990 doing breakfast.

quote:No doubt. The frozen things they serve now are slightly better than Burger King. As for the OP, I do not recall cornbread at Popeyes in the Baton Rouge area.
