Doesn't matter. Just a machine.

Even though I don't agree with a lot of the hyperbole that gets thrown around in BvS threads, damn it's entertaining

You get that hyperbole because us nerds care a lot about these characters that we've known our whole lives.

Of course not.

I've seen worse.

I think BvS though is a weird mix of things:

1) Classic, old characters with a ton of history
2) Massive Amounts of Hype
3) Many people thinking BvS would solve the issues in MoS
4) Zack Snyder
5) David Goyer
6) The tension between the above, creating something that is supposed to be "more real, more impactful" than other superhero genre movies, and creating something that is both reverent and fulfilling.

This is Ghosbusters on an Epic scale. We can now forget about Ghostbusters and we don't see a sequel (yay!). This will live on, is living on, and even if we did get a reboot, we're AT LEAST 5 years away from that. And that's only if Wonder Woman bombs as well. If the next few movies are successful in any sense, any kind of reimagining is a decade away or more.

Affleck is in talks to direct "Witness for the Prosecution" for Fox. It's believed now that his solo Batman film will not be released until 2019, at the earliest. It makes me wonder if Afflecks film will ever see the light of day. If DC films bomb again next year, I can see WB pulling the plug on this whole thing.

Such as? I know you've seen the series, so you can't tell me that they didn't quite literally frick everything up. I'll grant you that ______ Movies or Jack and Jill may be worse, since there was absolutely effort there, but I'm struggling to think of a worse action, fantasy, or drama movie.

Have you seen Jupiter Ascending? That was an absolutely horrible film.

I passed on that one, but I have heard its in the same ballpark. Next time I feel like punishing myself I may have to give it a whirl.

Since we've seen a great Wonder Woman trailer and it wasn't followed with, "That trailer doesn't jive with the actual movie" (See: Suicide Squad), I don't think that we'll see the level of studio intervention that resulted in the final Suicide Squad release.

Unless Geoff Johns becomes Steven Spielberg overnight, I think that Justice League will end up closer to Suicide Squad than to Wonder Woman. They're going to hedge all bets with this one and play it as safely as possible. Less of a complete film, more of a greatest hits set of scenes.

Right now I'm thinking that Wonder Woman will do extremely well and Justice League will do well enough but will underperform to the "billion or bust" expectations.

I'm also predicting that we'll see more Wonder Women and Supergirls trick or treating than we'll see girl Ghostbusters this year.

BvS and Suicide Squad are Godfather I and II compared to Jupiter Ascending.

Then this will be a huge problem. They went balls deep with the story in BvS by killing Superman, now they need to bring him back. They have to tell a good story here. I think it needs to be on the level of Civil War where we got a greatest hits on display, but also got a pretty good story. It will be a challenge for them.

I mean. Does anyone think this is even remotely possible with the current state of affairs at Warner Brothers?

I'm not saying that I want it to be a Suicide Squad type of movie. I'm just saying that with Snyder's history and the company's new policy of getting involved (and Suicide Squad being a success in spite of that), I wouldn't be surprised if JL was more of a team effort than a "Snyder Film".

I don't have much faith in Snyder, but I really hope we get to see James Wan's Aquaman film. That's the one (aside from Afflecks Batman) I'm most excited for.

I will always have faith, but I've seen no reason to think WB can pull off a movie on the Civil War level. Maybe we'll get lucky.
