What do yall think about Apple in the short term? I had bought some in the 90s as more of a short term play and was considering selling it. It seems to be overbought right now. I'm just wondering if the iphone 7 will help or hurt the stock when it's released in Sept.

I did too and I recently sold it in the 108s. I like apple but theyre a lot riskier than you think, the iphone makes up the bulk of their income and android has 85% market share worldwide and growing. Apple is a cash flow machine, an all time great company but its worth $600b and any disruption to that income could be ugly for shareholders. It was a good buy down there but up here Id rather something else

Short term?

iPhone sales this qtr were 20% of what they were this time last year.

With nothing big planned this year I'd sell asap.

Consider buying again in 2017

It is not a short term stock.

Stay far away from AAPL as a short term stock - it's risky. Every quarterly earning report can send it plummeting, but the upside isn't there to back up the downside.

I like it. I'm up 25% YTD with apple from my 2 entry and exit points. Waiting for it to dip below $105 or more before my next entry point

Up 25% on a stock that you probably bought in for at $90/share. You can make those same numbers on stocks that are $10/share and make a lot more money - that's why I don't personally like it as a short term play.

That literally makes zero sense. 25% gain is a 25% gain regardless of which company you buy or if you buy a certain stock at $10 or another stock at $90. A 25% gain at $10/share is the same profit as 25% gain at $90 dollars a share assuming you have the same amount of capital invested. It feasibly can't be a lot more money.

I ended up selling mine at 108.90. I've had a good bit of success trading Apple short term in the last year. I'm hoping it may come back down to 100 and I will buy back in.

You alluded to my point - didn't explain it well - considering the same capital is invested you can make 9x the money. Just my opinion on short term plays - you can make more bang for your buck on cheaper stocks which don't have any more volatility than AAPL.

Want to try again? Because for the second time, I seriously worry about your future finances

Your edit still didn't cleanse the stupid.

Simply stated, if Apple Stock split to $10, it doesn't become a better investment unless you are arguing some unproven investor psychology

I was trying to say, before the double brain fart, that less upfront capital can give you the same results.

If you are investing $1000 in Apple or $1000 in a stock that is $10, 25% returns gets you $250 either way

Your invested capital doesn't change based on the price of the stock
