Kroil oil is flat out unbelievable. It gets shite unfrozen you never thought would move again.
Beware those it has some acid in it. Flush whatever you use it on with a silicon spray or wash off the kroil oil after using if the material is made of something that may be susceptible to acid

I've noticed the same type of grease on my grandpa's old stuff, and he died 30 years ago. I just put synthetic Mobil from my grease gun. Hopefully that holds up

50/50 mix of acetone and transmission fluid has proven to be the best penetrating oil

I've used dry graphite on lock sets for years and it was pretty good. Then tried WD-40 Dry Lube spray (silicone) and they're now like new. Clean em up with some type of spray solvent first, then spray with dry lube. Problem solved. Ditto on the ATF and acetone as a penetrant.

There's a lot of shite acetone doesn't need to be on that Kroil can handle.

never realized we were splitting hairs...
just thought we were talking about the very best at penetrating/freeing things up.

Never used the stuff personally...but I've heard good stuff about Tri Flow lubricants from a locksmith at work who does all the desk drawers/filing cabinets/doors at NASA.

He also stays away from graphite due to the humidity clumping it up. I learned that from him..I previously was in the dry graphite camp too!
