I probably need surgery on my knee. Can anyone steer me toward the best in the area? Any recent experiences would be helpful.

If you're willing to drive a bit, Brett Cascio at Lake Charles Memorial is one of the best orthopedic doctors in the region for sports medicine (i.e. shoulders, knees, etc).

Duval's specialty is shoulders but he does do knees. Perry is in that office (former LSU O-lineman) and did both of my knee scopes. Couldn't have been happier with the outcome and btw he did Duval's knee surgery as well. I had one scoped in October of 2014 and the other in December 2014 -- torn meniscus complete with huge cysts. Not a problem to report since and I've long been back to running with no issues. Wish I hadn't waited as long as I did.

Penton in that office is really good with knees also .. did 2 surgery on 2 friends of mine. They were happy with him.

Seconded.

Glad to hear you are back to running with no issues. You got a race coming up?

Dr. Schutte at Acadiana Ortho on South College did both of my meniscus surgeries.

G Vice, yep. 10K in November, half or 10k in December (registered for the half) and then .. gulp .. hopefully a full in December as well. Registered for it but will wait and see how training goes. It's so damn hot!

I can tell you if you are in the Lafayette area, I've had MRIs done at Envision and was super happy with them and the cost. Dr. Perry sent my son to "a place they prefer to use" and yeah, it was WAY more expensive. He'd have been ok with Envision but I thought well, he has his reasons. Cost a couple hundred more. UGH.

Dr. Thomas Montgomery did my knee surgery. Both he and Peter Vizzi are good choices.

Never go to the "Hospital name here Imaging Center". They are considered part of the hospital and charge much higher rates. Me and mine always use Envision after getting burned by hospital place.

Duval or Schutte are your best 2 choices.
