I've always been a fan of batman but never really had much interest in the animated movies until now. I've looked around and saw that there are a lot out there. Which ones are recommended as the best ones?

The Dark Knight Returns is damn near a masterpiece, IMO.

The red mask one and the son of Batman are really good. Those are the only two that come to mind..

Definitely watch Under the Red Hood.

That's my favorite.

I'd say it really is a masterpiece. I recently had the fortune of seeing it on the big screen, and it was fricking incredible. Just in every way better than Batman V Superman. I'd go so far as to say it's better than some of the Nolan films. Only flaw I can think of is not casting Tim Curry as the Joker.

As for the must sees:

Mask of the Phantasm
Return of the Joker
The Dark Knight Returns
Year One
Under the Red Hood

Arkham Asylum is a good one, although it is the Suicide Squad.

It's one of the best renditions of Harley.

I'd be interested in that too. I'm basically interested in checking out the animated "Batman universe"

Batman is in it, but he is a side character really.

I'd go with Red Hood before TDKR and Year One. The rest of the order stands. That's not in the order of quality, but what order I think you should watch them in.

I recommend sone of the JL movies too.

Flashpoint is a good version of the comic.
JL: War is good.
Throne of Atlantis is ok.
Gods and Monsters is a really cool alternate universe one.

The animated movies are so awesome. Makes you wonder why they struggle so much with live action.

I agree, Batman: Assault on Arkham is under rated imo. Harley is awesome in it, and it is one of the more "adult" focused DC animated movies out there.
