Take them out of those plastic bags and let them air out. The smell will go away with time.

This is what I just did. I took them out of the plastic bags, put in sealed box with open box of baking soda. Plus, I did one shot of Frebreeze in the box before sealing it. I didn't want to put too much, so I just shot one time on the side of the box.

Are they molding? I've never had that happen with old newspaper or magazines. Wonder if they previously got wet

eBay has one listed at $350 that ain't moving in better condition so you know your ceiling

I think putting them out in direct sunlight might help. Outside would be best, but inside on a window sill would still help.

Obviously, there is a risk of them bleaching this way over time... but it would probably take a month or longer to damage them visually. I'd imagine you could expose them to strong sunlight for a week or two with no risk of degrading the quality. Just keep a close eye on them day to day if you do this. But sunlight is a great natural cleaner.
