Do y'all know of a good place to grab some lunch, probably around El Campo or Victoria?

Prasek's in El Campo has it all from gas station, smoke house, meat market, bakery, small store & resturant. Everything I have gotten from there is great!! Place is always packed and busy.

Prasek's

Best kolaches in Texas. Everything else there is good, except for the brisket.

Our go-to in that area for lunch used to be Hinze's BBQ in Wharton before it burnt down.

Just a tad out of the way

I thought they rebuilt after the fire ?

Prasek's is hard to beat as they pretty much have everything. I really like their assortment of jerky but the prices are higher than giraffe nuts

Can't help you on the way, but once in Corpus you should go hit up the Yardarm for some good seafood.

The small packs of sausage, jerky, and cheeses by the registers at Praseks are kickass traveling snacks. The bakery is great, but I've never been that impressed with the BBQ.

Make it a must to eat at The Republic, located on the top floor of the Omni Hotel. Nice bar area and plenty of people to converse with. For dinner, ask for a view overlooking the bay. Great scenery. Get there early as the place gets pretty busy.

And for dinner, get the pork chop. It's delicious.

Praseks is solid but JRs has better bbq.
It's about 10-15 miles east of praseks.

I've been living here for 4 years and I can say that the dining scene leaves a bit to be desired for the size city it is. That being said, we do have some good restaurants.

Seafood - Surprisingly not that great here being in a coastal town but the following places are pretty good

The Angry Marlin - newer place, you can also get pork osso bucco there (Island area)

Costa Sur Wok & Ceviche Bar (Island area)

I'll be honest I think most of the cooked dishes at Costa Sur are a little heavy handed on the salt but you can't go wrong with the ceviche

Dragonfly is a good all around type of restaurant on the Island. BTW The Angry Marlin mentoined above is from one of the old chefs at Dragonfly (Island area)

Laguna Reef has solid seafood. It's in the Flour Bluff area, not an area that I make it to often.

On the southside Saltwater Grill is pretty good. They serve complimentary home made potato chips which is nice.

Downtown area there is a place called Harrison's Landing that is pretty good. Part of the general seating area is actually on a floating dock. Nice outside eating atmosphere. There is a Landry's next door also.

North Beach area - Pier 99 has a great view of the water and of the Lexington...however I can't say that the food is great. Good place to catch a drink outside. But I'll say this - I'd prefer not to hang out in the north beach area because it's pretty shitty. Probably the best part of town if you want to pick up a tranny hooker and some smack though.

Yardarm - As someone mentioned earlier yardarm is a solid seafood restaurant. You get a good view of the bay. The owner is very friendly. Most of the dishes there are classics like Lobster thermidore. They usually have 2-3 nightly specials and some good fresh catch offerings. I'd advise against the oysters there as they're sort of small.

That's about all my experience with seafood. Unfortunately I have some seafood allergies so I don't get to enjoy all of it.

I'll provide more posts later for other categories
