Does wood split better after its dry or when it's still green. (By hand not with a splitter) Hickory

depends, prefer dry if splitting with axe by hand, doesn't matter if using splitter...

Its going to be lighter and split much easier when dry. If doing it by hand then definitely get the wood as dry as possible.

Splits better when it's dry, but splitting hickory sucks. Rent a log splitter if you have any significant amount

Frick being Paul Bunyan, go rent a splitter.

More than a half cord, I'm spending the $20 and getting a log splitter

Hour a day and I don't have to go to the gym, probably just half a cord or so I got it cut in round logs and stacked it's about 4 ft high and 10 ft long

I used to hack away at this 60" red oak stump in my yard in BR for a workout. Definitely not easy to do without stopping

When I was selling firewood, I never had the luxury of waiting until it was green. Red oak, water oak, black jack, post oak and live oak splits fine with an axe when it is green. For hickory, get a splitter.

By hand easiest is when it wet and frozen but no one in s la would know that. ??
W a splitter it doesn't matter. Worst wood to split was elm that shiite will fight u to the last fibre.....
