I don't want to carry around these two giant fobs swaged together, is there a trick to find out the door code?

Try asking the company you rented the car from instead of tOT.

usually on a tag inside the paperwork in the glovebox.

Cut the cable holding the two fobs together. I do it all the time.

I rented a new fusion last week. It was nice but that shite on the door seemed unnecessary.

Is it keyless start? On my F150 if you put one key in and turn it to on, then immediately do it with the other key it will display the factory code. Then you can set a door code.

First world problems.
They too big to fit in the pocket of your skinny jeans?

Open the trunk. It's on a sticker on the drivers side hinge.

They etch the factory code into the inside of the door. You have to take the door panel off, but it's easier to read than the strip by the fuses
