Any new places doing cracklins in NOLA?

This isn't a bash... I went to Cleaver & Co. last weekend and I wasn't a fan of their new style of cracklins. They used to be fairly small and just salted, not spiced. The new ones were spiced, but my biggest issue was they were very large and there was a good bit of un-rendered fat in the center.
Any new places doing cracklins these days? I could make my own, but would rather just go buy a half-pound somewhere. TIA

Danny and Bonnie's on the Wank is my go-to. 2205 Belle Chase Highway.

I'm interested in this subject as well.
Someone told me that Chris' in Lakeview does them on Saturday's, but I haven't tried them yet.

Does Danny and Bonnie's still put vinegar on theirs? That threw me off, but it's been awhile since I got them there.

it sounds like you want pork rinds

I want big cracklins with fat on edges and some meat on some of them in the middle.
Only place in the area that I found doing them was a produce stand next to LA 23 BBQ down in Belle Chasse, but I'm pretty sure that place is gone now.

The ones at Shank don't look too bad. Never had them though.

Sounds like you got legit cracklins. Their 'new style' is what cracklins have always been.

Like I said, I'm not knocking them... they were just a little too big. I'm well aware of legit cracklins.
Speaking of which, I wish whoever does the Cracklin Trail website would have kept it going.

The ones at Toup's are pretty damn good. Dipped in that chicken liver mousse and they are incredible.

Oh, I thought you'd never had legit ones like from Billy's in Krotz Springs.

I believe Blue Oak does them.

This is something I've found it's best to wait till I go to Laffy for a boudin run, i'll just pick up some while I am there. Having them every few months make it a special treat for me.
Went to Billy's in Lafayette (well the exit pass Lafayette) this past Sunday as I was in town for a baptism, picked up 20 lbs of boudin and a pound of cracklins, split both with a buddy of mine.

Not in NOLA, but Wayne Jacobs smokehouse in Laplace has em on certain days of the week.
The pork rinds and pimento cheese at Co Burger are damn tasty, though not cracklings.

Bumping this because someone told me that Tre Bons Meats out in River Ridge does Cracklins. Anyone try them?

Yes, Tre Bons cracklins are legit and good. They have pretty good boudin and head cheese also. Had the rib plate there last night, pretty good.

quote:Decent cracklin, but those dudes are insane. They're charging $9 for 1/4lb bag. $36/lb for those not good at math. Danny Bonnie charges $15.25. Most places are in the $16-20/lb range

I did make it to Chris' today. Fresh out of the pot and damn good.
They are doing them every day now too.

Chris's Specialty Meat market in Lakeview is always pimping cracklins.
