I think they can get it done withou giving up Bregman. If they want a package around a top 10 prospect in baseball for him then he won't get dealt

Reality is if they have profar and Gallo and another young arm on the table they will not settle for anything less than bregman.

So much win so early in the morning. I love the DAT!

Probably true but that was what I read was rumored for Sale. The price for Quintana should be cheaper. I also don't see them trading both though so it would make sense to ask for the same

I don't think the price is much cheaper for CQ. If at all. He has one more year of control than sale. He gets groundballs and he will have a much better defense here.
Sale sounds splashier but I'm not sold that his next 3 to 4 years will be any better than CQ.

Spot on Shane. I'd be down with that as well.
That being said, the trade market for SP's are just not good this year. And because of that the risk is always there to overpay for a guy who doesn't warrant the haul.
Maybe the answer is to trade for a non-sexy name that's solid as opposed to overpaying for the 2-3 top guys in a high demand market

sale would be pointless. We already waste good starting pitching and lose 1-0, 2-0. He gets enough of that in chicago

If Lance improves fastball
Said after his start vs Seattle (5.1 ip, 1 ER, 8 ks) that he used his sinker more. Said it was easier for him to throw the sinker in the middle of the plate and have it break to different edges of the zone than to try to place his fastball at the corners. I didn't get to watch last night's game to see if he took this approach again, but whatever he did obviously worked. Maybe he figured something out. He has TOR stuff for sure.

If archer could be had without giving up bregman I would target him.
We shouldn't be trading for anything less than a number 2 starter. We already have an abundance of 3.4.5 guys.

I don't know the total of sinkers last night but he was breaking ball heavy all night and at least late in the game it was mostly 4 seamers when he went fastball. Didn't see the change as much which is a devasting pitch. He used it to wipe out petit on a 3-2 count.

We won't get Quinatana without giving up Bregman unfortunately
I don't believe that. But would we be willing to give up Reed and Martes as headliners? I don't know about that either.

As much crappie as I give lunhow it truly was a stroke of.genius to get. Correa and mccullers in 2012. Both of those guys are scratching the surface of future greatness and already big time contributors to contender.

Since @Astros were 11 out June 17th, they're 20-8 with best overall ERA (3.03) and best rotation ERA (3.04) in majors. Now 2.5 out of 1st.

Outside of Fiers and maybe a few random ones from others, the rotation has done a fantastic job of putting us in position to win games. Making a move or calling up Musgrove would be a great way to try and extend this hot streak

And if they won't pay inflated market prices on a top starter, add to the bullpen.

Agree. Underlines the idiocy of not having bregman up now. We are wasting too many scoring opportunities. A couple extra runs here and there gives our guys a bit more margin.

And that's legit even taking into account the idea that he's a rookie. Even with no experience, he will be better at providing a higher percentage of quality at bats than any outfielder on the team not named Springer. Gurriel has that profile as well. They have plus bat speed and approaches. They will cut down on our bad at bats, especially K's with RISP.

Amen. Gomez basically has to bunt or get hbp to get on. Sad.

I can't verify the number but a friend of mine texted last night that Marwins wRC in the 2 hole is ~88
Seems like a great place for Bregman especially with how good he is at walking. They will throw him strikes with Altuve and Correa batting after him
