Sick of these bastards, what's the best way to get them out of my yard. I don't care if they go to the neighbors and don't care what it cost!

Start with the broad cast grainules , like ortho. Just remember that every time it rains heavily, you'll have to reapply.

The yard guard sprays can be a secondary attack.

I used Talstar xtra this year and not one fire ant pile in my yard. I got it from Shenandoah hardware and spread it to what the bag recommended. It was enough to do both my yard and my neighbors yard with enough left over to spot treat if needed.

Pour/spray a little gas on the pile. Let it soak in for a few moments. Drop a match. Let it burn out. Water the entire pile down. Go about your day.

Let them kill each other.

Get two people with shovels.
Find two separate mounds.
Scoop the top off of each and dump it on the other one.

Then sit back and watch the carnage.

Don't waste your time or money with anything else.

Put this down 2x per year and rarely see a single ant on the property. It's funny because sometimes the ants will build a mound right on the property line but they never cross over.

Managing Imported Fire Ants in Urban Areas by the LSU AgCenter

One of their studies showed bifenthrin kicks arse on them. I buy granules at a irrigation place that stocks commercial level products. Put it out a time or 2 a year.

Mix about 5 lbs. of Cheerios with 3 lbs of grits. Cover and soak in about 1 gallon of K-2 kerosene for about 24 hours. It will become a paste. Take it and smear it all around and over the mound. It will dry pretty quickly once it is exposed to the air. They will mostly die laughing watching you do all this as they bite the heck out of you.

Good luck.

Over and Out is granular and you can spread it in your yard. Tarus is a liquid that you can spray your yard with. Both work.

I can attest that this works. I've done it a couple of times over the years, and it's damn effective.

The worker/soldier ants are genetically pre-programmed to take over opposing mounds. If they come across a mound with a different queen than theirs, the goal is to fight through to the queen and kill her. That way, the opposing colony dies off, and their own colony takes over the mound (and territory).

By taking two separate mounds with shovels and turning them on each other, you're causing sudden and extreme chaos to the mounds, and there is very little odds that the defending ants will be able to protect their queen, so that pile is dead.
