Getting on reds in grand isle?

I'll be bringing down a group of folks to grand isle to fish for the weekend. I know where to run to to load the boat with specks and a few places off shore to catch some snapper. But, i have never really caught any reds in grand isle. Should i run north back up to leeville? Most of these guys will be fishing for their first time and I want them to have a great experience in south la. Thanks for the help.

Run 36 miles to the east and fish Venice. I've tried the Grand Isle redfish thing the three different times, twice with guides and once on my own, we have caught a grand total of two reds. Leeville(both guided) and Myrtle Grove were strike outs for us, maybe run up toward Lafitte if you just have to try. We did good one year but we trailered to Golden Meadow.

Yeah, i may just trailer back up the road a bit. I was hoping someone knew a spot somewhat close that i could try.

I've done well but going way north to Leeville and golden meadow
The boat ride isn't too long, just look for ponds or points with moving water with cocahoes
Bay Rambo area is usually protected and clean water

Bull reds in the pass
this unless someone is trying to stalk em just anchor in 12' of water and cast out some cracked crab. 1-1 1/2 oz weights. turn on the radio and drink some beers.
a quick run .25 mile out of caminada pass at daybreak they may be on the surface gorging themselves

Grand Isle itself isnt a great place to target reds besides fishig for bull Reds in the pass. Sometimes you can stumble upon a school on them on the beach or running through the bay's.
I run from bridge side and fish golden meadow or Leeville ponds for red fish. Both areas are full of red fish

Best bank trip I ever had for reds was in grand isle. Got there late. First ones to the spot. Started fishing that little bridge by the entrance to elmers. Water was ripping through heading south. Giant fricking school. We hand picked our limit of 18-26 inch fish. Within an hour you had thirty people on top of each other. Mexicans keeping undersized fish left and right. Layed up and got drunk the rest of the day right there.

Yeah that happens about twice a year or so they funnel through that bridge it's limits for everyone! I seen it before where green jeans would be there set up and taking down people's names on a clipboard so you couldn't go home and dump your limits and come back. People literally waiting in line to get on the bridge to fish it's nuts. We were on the way to Fuchon to launch one time and saw what was going on so we turned around and went back and loaded up.

evrytime I have gone fishing in grand Isle, I have caught my limit on bull-reds at the pier.

Cracked? Nah I use whole crabs big as my hands. Big bait = big fish. Then again I was in a tournament. We were killing time while those sat and caught some bulls playing with plastics and 10# mono on my 2500 Stradic Ci4/cumura. Talk about inadequate lol.

Get in the marsh and fish ponds. There's plenty of them north of the island

Use whole crabs just so the catfish cant pick the meat out of a cracked crab.
