Honestly, what can be done to save this Country?

Take this with a grain of salt, I'm only 22, so this is the first time I'm seeing the country truly divided. In the late 60's the country was extremely divided, no? But there is no way that the country was even close to being as divided as it is now back then right?
I honestly can't see how WE are going to get out of this continual downhill slope that seems to be getting steeper and steeper.
We have some of the highest politicians in the land blatantly breaking laws and the highest justice department in the land allowing them to get off. We constantly have race riots or race related shootings. Our president seems to be stoking the fire on the race relations. We refuse to confront an enemy that has killed quite a few Americans. (ISIS) When we try to get tough with other countries they just laugh at us.
We have feckless, immoral, and weak leaders (if you can even call them leaders) who will ALWAYS push their own agenda. Right or wrong be damned. We used to stand for something bigger, we used to have morals and they have just completely been thrown out the window.
I was always told that no one person was bigger than America, because America is more than just a nation, it's an idea. An idea that the PEOPLE could choose their own destiny, choose the way they wanted to live their own lives. I guess I was wrong, I guess my mom and dad, and their parents, and their parents before them, and all the ancestors of my family that dates its roots here beginning in the early 1700's, I guess they were wrong, too.
Tonight, I weep for the America I was always told about. Have a good one guys, stay safe out there. We'll bounce back from this.

Wait until the Republican convention. It's going to get worse.

A strong leader that focuses on the good in our country rather than its faults. That would be a start anyways. Basically Reagan reincarnate.

More than 11 cops getting shot?

There wasn't social media in the 60s. Been like this for a while you just see it more because of the Internet

Stop buying the bullshite you get fed from the second you wake up to the second you go to sleep on tv, computer, radio etc.
Refocus on the family unit. The family unit is weak.
Stop allowing the government to lure voters in with money to get more votes.
For starters.

Were going to have to stop coddling and celebrating bullshite bad behaviors. Get back to basics and individual responsibility. Which means we're fricked because that is not going to happen. Instead I'm buying more guns and ammo.

Cops have to stop shooting blacks. There is video now you can't get away with it anymore. I remember neing harassed twice and searched and cuffed for no reason while in college for being black. That shooting in Minnesota was just gut wrenching.

A good outside threat always helps. Prosperity and comforts breeds infighting. It's an old story. They've been trying to pump up ISIS but no one really sees them as an existential threat. Now, they are trying to make Russia and China the external enemy we need, but in truth, we are just too powerful.
We need aliens.

I guess maybe the biggest saving grace with all this is one day it's going to collapse on itself (big gov't, nationalized healthcare, stock market and auto bailouts, etc.) and the chickens will be home to roost. Then maybe people will start seeing all the empty promises they've been fed. Maybe then people will understand real hardship.
It's gonna suck when it happens, but it could possibly make or break us.

I wonder what the mood was while this was going on in New Orleans in the early '70s. Anyone around at the time?

What about cops shooting whites?

This is how I feel. A major reason why people fight and bitch about things like politics, gun control, social issues, etc. - is because we are comfortable. If we had worse problems; there was a shortage of food, we didn't have clean water to drink, I believe all hell would break lose

This doesn't seem to cause much uproar nowadays

It's like a Satanic parallel of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. As we move up Maslow's, we move down the Satanic Hierarchy.

These protesters have no idea that the statistics don't support their argument
More white people are killed by cops even though more black folks commit homicide. It seems that cops would be more aggressive with homicide perps.
There is a higher rate of black on white violence than white on black
The rate of murder for black on white homicide is twice the rate of white on black homicide.
In truth, they're fabricating some sense of victimhood when it's actually backward of reality.
