Dude. Read my post.
Same for the Megaman suggestion.
You know not of what you are suggesting him.

quote:Did they say this in a recent Bombcast? That's definitely one that still holds up. I play through at least once every couple of years. Awesome soundtrack too. I would definitely NOT recommend playing it with anything but an actual gamepad, though.
I heard the Giant Bomb folks hating Mega Man X.
Obligatory (though, admittedly obnoxious) link to Egoraptor's analysis of why Megaman X is such a well designed sequel. LINK

The thing about it is that many games are just tough to play well on phones, mostly platformers and fighters. So if you DON'T have a controller, my picks would be the following:
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Kirby's Dream Course
Aerobiz: Supersonic
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy 3/VI
Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen
Super Mario RPG
Tetris Attack
Breath of Fire I/II
Harvest Moon
Shadowrun
Lufia I/II
Terranigma
King Arthur's World
If you really like RPG's Secret of Evermote, Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana/Seiken Denetsu III all work well too, but they are a little more action oriented
Brawlers can work ok - Knights of the Round, Final Fight 2/3, etc.

No love for Secret of Mana yet? Blasphemy!
...oops, didn't see page 2. But still, Secret of mana!
Also, there are a few game sites that list their top 100/50/25/etc SNES games of all time. I used it when building my emulator library.

The average rom is around a meg in size. There are like 786 official snes games. There is no excuse to not have the entire library with it under a gig lol.

What games are most like Zelda? I can't search on my work computer because they block pretty much everything but this site ironically.
Also, thanks for the suggestions thus far. I am slowly working them in as I get time. Mega Man X is hard as frick though, damn.

Mario RPG. Anything with precision control will be damn near impossible on your phone.

use is craaaazy
by the way, I have majora's mask on my wii...I can get a free 3ds (I used to have one when I was traveling and spending a week here and there in a small town)
should I do 3ds or n64 version? I do enjoy playing Nintendo in my office/den, but 3ds version looks freaking cool

And this thread makes it clear again, the SNES is the greatest console of all time. Nothing else comes close.

quote:it's the best console in terms of quantity of awesome games. The list is endless, the side scroller arcade beat em ups, the top down rpgs, first party titles, and on and on and on. only complaint is mortal kombat didn't have blood.
the SNES is the greatest console
but look at the games from this last generation
last of us
gtav
uncharted series
arkham series
skyrim
red dead redemption
there's a lot of bullshite out there, but the great games are freaking great.
n64 holds the GOAT title for me though. many of the games I enjoyed haven't aged well and neither did the controls, but it boils down to Mario 64 and ocarina of time...that could be 1 and 2 on the greatest video games of all time list and they were only on the n64 and the controller which I mentioned sucked, was designed with those games in mind, so it's perfect

But the difference:
All of those are so relatively similar. I mean, I like modern gaming, and there are a few standouts. But all new technology has done is actually limit the scope of good games, rather than open up new possibilities.
Have you ever played a game like Zombies Ate my Neighbors made in the last 5-10 years? ActRaiser?
