Back on topic...I forgot about:
The Claypool Lennon Delirium. Excellent and weird album.
what is a hipster? Please define.
I really love the Claypool Lennon suggestion. Not a big fan of the music but read alot about them. The video for Bubbles Burst is certainly unique. It's the Primus guy, which i found very interesting and u can the Primus in his music. Good suggestion young lad.

You, Seaward....are not who i am talking about. you continue to bring unique music to the board.
Well thanks, although it is usually at least probably 90% indie rock.
Look I agree that people downvoting your list was pretty chickenshit. All of this is subjective opinion and people have different taste, so I don't see any reason to downvote someone's list. That said, I obviously thought the sheeple talk was a bit over the top and I don't agree with you there.

After two listens in its entirety I have to add Anderson Paak's album to my best of the year list. Excellent groove, super smooth record.
listening to Paak's album right now. thanks.

I have overcome the fear of a down vote. I am at peace with them. On one comment in the OT lounge I got over 140 downvotes on one comment. I was actually quite proud of that.
And I'm sorry for calling the all music board posters "sheeple". I should not have done that.

Not going to front of "best" albums, but these are the ones I've listened to a lot that were released this year:
Kvelertak
Explosions in the Sky
Sturgill
James Blake
Chance the Rapper
Mistki
Carseat Headrest
Band of Horses
Mutual Benefit
anderson.paak
Pinegrove
Surprisingly light on the metal so far this year. I don't think it's been a weak genre in 2016, it just hasn't suited my mood, I guess.

Come on baw. You got all the information you need at your fingertips.
Ridculing others and calling them "Sheeple" for listening to music that everyone else is listening to, is quite a hipster thing to say.
I'm with Seaward on this one.

Katatonia - The Fall of Hearts
Definitely my choice for album of the year so far, and I was not expecting it at all. I like the band, but I wasn't expecting album of the year material from them. A lot of people may not give it a real chance because of its association with metal. But I can't think of an album this year that tops it honestly. It's got creative and unpredictable song structures, excellent musicianship, great haunting melodies, stellar production/mixing, and every single song feels incredibly well thought out (no filler at all). I actually can't get over how good the album is.

Vektor - Terminal Redux
Abbath
Ihsahn - Arktis
Nails - You Will Never Be One of Us
Sumac - What One Becomes
All from this year and that's leaving out mainstream stuff like Deftones and Anthrax.

Maybe 4 genres. 90% in "indie rock.
indie rock continues to produce the most original and great music.
a few years ago electronica was the shite. But indie rock has dominated IMHO in the last few years.
I dont really listen to rap though, or metal. Or country.
the field's new album is good as is the chromatics EPs.

Thanks for the recs. I'm also adding the new Blut Aus Nord though it's not really metal with the direction they've taken. More like Swans.

Yes, I would like to talk about it. Thank you for your concern. There is so much music out there. Different genres, interesting artists, unique music, etc... and 90% of this board are sheeple and they don't even know it. This board bombs us with the same after same..... and it's the music that the big companies push out there for everyone to buy.
God you sound awful. Listen to some Steve Gunn and chill out.
