Sour would mean I would give a C

How come you have to think a guy is the greatest player ever or a scrub? Can there be no in between?

I have said forever his most likely career is Redick. In fact, I wrote that in January before anyone else made that comparison

I said his ceiling is Mitch Richmond. I think he is a good player. Just not an 'A' pick IMO

I don't. I like Frazier a lot. Plus that's another 10 in cap space

Sour as in if it was Murray plus Evans dump you'd give it an A++++++++++.

Sorry, my bad, I actually basically told everyone Buddy would be the pick in February, not January. And called him Redick with better D way back then

How can you watch his game and call him defensive Redick? He's a superior athlete with much better handles coming into the league than Redick has ever had by quite a margin.

I don't think any team will have the balls to trade for Reke until his medicals come back okay and that could be a while. But man, if they can dump him tonight; this will be a B+ or A- night for me

That would pretty amazing.

Realistically though I think a best case scenario would be both Hield and Evans exceeding expectations and the market for Evans rising and then making a trade near the deadline. Though given "win now" that would seem unrealistic but if Hield looks like the obvious long term SG we might just do it?

I have never liked the Reddick comparison. To me it doesnt jive with what I have seen from him outside of a few skillsets.

Buddy is a superior athlete, a more diverse scorer and has much better length(Redick had a wingspan of 6'3.25" compared to Hield at 6'9.25}, verticality and agility.

Hields physical tools just give him a better ceiling out the gate so capping him at Reddick seems a bit silly.

Let me be clear, I think he will give a team the PRODUCTION that Redick provides. Thats what I do with comparions. No guy has the same shooting ability same, ball handling, etc as some other guy.

I am saying to expect similar production. Constant scoring that can occassionally be explosive. Few boards, few assists, few steals/blocks, but a high eFG.

That make it any more clear about how I feel about Buddy?

Also, remember, I came on here a few weeks ago and said their dream summer was Buddy and Batum.

I think its a long shot, but they will try

Agree. And like I said, I think Mitch Richmond is the ceiling. Next step is to get a playmaking/defensive SF.

As if that will be easy. But they will try.

Yes some but I'm surprised that someone with as much knowledge as you would choose to use box score stats.

Better penetrator and ball handler = a much different career arc. Redick was only going to be a kick out or curl off screens guy. Buddy will actually space the floor from the 3 pt line to the rim. He doesn't need other guys to set him up 100% of the time. He can create his own shot. These are intangibles that even if he became a similar box score to Redick, it should come at a more efficient rate. Then there's the defensive side of the ball..

As much as you seem to think I underrate Buddy, I wonder how much you have watched Redick lately.

He is not the 'White guy shooter' that most people think of him as. He has a very nice handle. He is incredibly smart and more athletic than most people associate with a white shooter.

But yes, I am talking about what he produces for your team and what the opposition scouting report says. I would bet that if you looked at opposing scouting reports next year for JJ and Buddy and took the names off, you wouldn't be able to tell who was who

But I digress. I like the pick, but I still think this team will have to find one more guy better than Buddy and Jrue to ever really contend. And that will be hard

He's 22 years old. No time for him to wait, especially with Gordon gone. This dude should be a starter day 1, and I think he will.

I disagree. I like a guy to master one thing, then give him more, then more, then more until he is ready. Like the Spurs did with Kawhi. Or for football fans, think of a pass rusher. You start off just letting him come in on third down and attacking, then you slowly work him in to other situations.

I personally think that works best. Kid isn't overwhelmed. Not too much expected of him, etc. Plus, you gotta consider that he played 40 games last year and will have to play twice that this year. I'd rather he hit his stride in February than hit the wall.

There is a learning curve for NBA rookies, 18 or 22. It is hard for rookies to be good NBA players.

He may start day 1. But being 22 doesn't mean he will be a net positive to the Pels this season

Yeah, people should read Verrier's latest piece. Basically, you dont find plus rookies getting starter minutes on winning teams

If the Pels want to make the playoffs next year (and they do), Buddy needs to get 1000-1500 minutes, not 2000+

Do you think there is any chance to bring in a guy like Batum?
