Theo Epstein was hired by the Cubs as President of Baseball Operations in October of 11. They've gone from the worst to the best in baseball in that time. Here's a little something to show the progress. It's pretty incredible.

Theo's work with the Cubs is far more impressive than his work with the Red Sox when he inherited a loaded 93-win team with Manny Ramirez, Pedro Martinez, Johnny Damon and Jason Varitek. Pretty much the entire Cubs team has been built by him. I can't name a single key guy left over from the Hendry regime. It's been a brilliant run.

If the guy can end an 86 year drought and a 108+ year drought, hard to say he's not GOAT

Without Billy Beane there is no Theo Epstein. He invented him. I still will never understand why Billy didn't cash in on it, but I guess there's more to life than just sports for some. Got to respect that.

That Jason Hayward signing was definitely a shrewd, underrated move

Yes I realize no one can be perfect but I just once again want to show that I was right. And I'll give myself an upvote to contend with the swarm of downvotes coming my way.

Can't forget about Jed Hoyer either. I think the most impressive thing he's done has been the Anthony Rizzo project. When he was in Boston, he drafted Rizzo. When he went to San Diego, he traded for Rizzo. When he came to Chicago, he once again traded for Rizzo. He saw something in him and wanted to build a team around him; they have done just that.

Theo is very impressive. I read where he is heavily involved with the minor league system. He reads all notes from his scouts, and is up to date with every player in his teams minor league system. Basically, every person on every team associated with the Cubs is there for a reason. All he does is reads and crunches numbers.
