OT ladies and parents, how do you feel about women being drafted

for combat. A Senate bill was passed on Tuesday that would make women born on or after January 1, 2018, register for the Selective Service, like men have been doing for years. Previously, Defense Secretary Ashton Carter approved final plans from military service branches and the U.S. Special Operations Command to open up all combat jobs to women, and authorized the military to begin integrating female combat soldiers “right away.”

The draft is very unAmerican in itself, so I really dont care about it one way or the other.

Wow...
so only 20 years for that to be shot down, that'll totally stand up

If their goal is quality, then this is the next obvious step.

Considering the draft has not occurred in 40+ years, I'm not too concerned.
The military will always have a plethora of volunteers.

Are we planning on having a draft sometime soon?
ETA: And women signing up for the draft is stupid. There are physiological reasons why women would be terrible in combat. The genders aren't equal, especially in this case.

Based on equal rights then yes the draft should be open to all people. That being said, they don't have to draft people into combat roles.
There are plenty of non combat support roles that women and less able bodied people could fill.

WGAF about this easy-to-politicize BS except you simpletons.
Idiots.

As a father of zero girls, and the husband of an undraftable wreck of a woman, I don't give a shite either way.

my daughter isnt going to be much bigger than her mom (5'2 105lbs) so for my daughter. Being drafted...you might as well throw a rag doll out there.

Absolutely, they should be drafted.
There are consequences to elections, people. When you elect social engineers with liberal agendas into positions of power, don't be surprised when their appointees implement disastrous policies.
Bottom line... if women are clear for combat roles, then the military says women are fit for front-line combat. No citizen fit for combat should be exempt from the draft, regardless of gender.
If that is not the case, then these leaders need to explain why. They won't be able to.
It's time to put Heather on the front line, in accordance with the orders of the Commander-in-Chief. I, for one, am glad this systematic discrimination against females is coming to an end. It's time to give them the opportunity to enjoy the horrors of war firsthand.

Why aren't women required to register within the next 12 months or face the same denial of federal student loans,etc... as men?
It's not about equality, it's preferential treatment. And it sure as hell isnt about a more lethal military. Easier PT test. Different grooming standards. Ridiculous sexual harassment procedures. No repercussions for the traditional pre-deployment surge of pregnancies. Thank goodness I'm coming off the line for a few years.

We, the United States of America, have the most advanced military in the history of civilization. No, I don't want women to be drafted.

Draft'em! There are positions for women. Although ever person is trained for front line combat during basic (my experience in the Army) no woman would serve in those positions if they chose not to.
Women are fighting for equal rights so this is only right.
The need for people is modified at all times based on the needs. Adjustments for female positions would be the norm.
