It's a good book too as I recall. I think I also read the next one in the series.
There is also a 1987 version of the movie starring Scott Glenn and Joe Pesci. I'd really like to see that version.
As far as the Denzel movie I always wish that after he makes the trade and gives himself up to get the girl back that it was revealed that he had a bomb inside himself like the one he inserts in the bad guy in the "I wish you had more time" scene.

No disrespect my man, but I couldn't disagree with you anymore. This was one of the most badass movies ever and Denzel was typical Denzel in this. Should have gotten way more wins than it did.

Best Denzel movie IMO. I'll go one step further and say the best cop/spy-action/thriller of the last decade.

I'm assuming you've never seen Training Day?

Man on Fire was great, but his best performance will always be Training Day.

Greatest use of subtitles in a film.

Best Denzel role was in Glory, won an Academy Award for it. The scene were he is whipped is just jaw dropping good.

He was great in it, but agree the movie was just ok.

Fallen

It is a standard Denzel role but dammit I love it. Not to mention has some of my favorite lines.
"Creasy's art is death...and he's about to paint his masterpiece".
