it does a pretty good job of being an above average, consistent, sports bar/restaurant.
Sounds like you're taking a step back from the "great" superlative.

Compared to Hooters, Twin Peaks, BWW, Beef Obrady's, and Fox & Hound the food at Walk On's is as good as better and the service is def. better.
And in my opinion the food is equally awful at all of the places listed.
Just because you think it's better than an awful place doesn't mean it's good. It just means it may not be as awful.
They're all very slightly different degrees of really bad.

I think the Nicholson location is great. They had a run of a month or so when the wings were pretty cruddy, but the bar atmosphere is great, service is always on point and it's well priced.

What are your go-to sports bars and/restaurants?

Not really. In the greater context of restaurants and bars in BR as a whole, it's above average.
In the context of a good place to sit and watch a game, drink beer, and eat a fried chicken sandwich, burger or cheese fries, it is great.

I agree. It's a cool place to go have drinks but the food is not as good as Chimes.

Walk-Ons was great until Drew Brees came in and fricked it all up.

I agree. It's too corporate now.

It's a good place to drink and watch a game. If the food doesn't taste like August, this board bitches. It's bar food.

I'm not a fan, but the place grows in leaps and bounds. They must have the right formula that flies in the face of pretentiousness.

Walk-On's a breastaurant where the servers are not trained to be nice to you.

You know what's worse than "pretentious food snobs"? People that revel in mediocrity and celebrate mediocre food in a preening attempt to not be "pretentious".

obviously
but should restaurants not be held accountable for terrible items on their menu?
