Cordless electric weed eaters?

Just started looking into these as my gas powered echo was stolen off my carport recently. My yard is fairly small and the reviews on some of these look very good. I'd like to stay around $150 but still have something reasonably powered. Any OT'ers care to share some insight or experience with these?

I got one with a blower/weed eater combo for 100 bucks and it did all the tricks I needed.
The only draw was that the battery didn't last very long between the two so buy a spare. If your yard is small you will be fine.

Had one for a long time, but you'll spend the money you save on gas for batteries. After you use them a while the battery life gets shorter and shorter.
Plus it sucks if you use all your batteries, and don't have any charged to finish the lawn.

I have all battery powered yard tools of the GreenWorks brand. They all use the same batteries and I have no complaints. I have a small yard though.

Yeah - I didn't get the spare, so I would alternate between weedeating and doing other prep work, pick up and so forth.
Other than that, I loved the light weight and no cord vibe - and I'm sure batteries and cordless trimmers have improved in the 5 or 6 years that I have owned mine. I'm out of that business now. I pay a guy $50 every 2 weeks - best money I've spent in years.

I have this one from Ryobi and it works well for my small yard IF I consistently manicure the lawn. When I get lazy and take a few weeks off I pay the price and have to go with the Echo to trim the thicker weeds/grasses growing over the patio or up the fences. It does not do a great job edging however.

I was fed up with the shitty gas powered trimmer I had a few years ago and bought this battery powered Kobalt trimmer from Lowe's. I caught it when they had a sale and got an extra battery for free. I think it works great for trimming and edging. I can do the entire perimeter of the house, along the fence on 1 side of my property and all of the edging for my sidewalk and driveway in a single charge.
I liked it so much I went and got the battery powered Kobalt blower as well when they had another free battery sale.
My only complaint is the cost of the trimmer line...$20 for a 3-pack at Lowe's.

My dad has an echo gas trimmer. It's gotta be at least 25 years old. Still works fine till this day.
I can't see myself going electric, unless the power and battery is similiar to gas.

I have the Workx blower and weedeater. Both are great. Since your yard is small, it will work very well. One of my two batteries crapped out after about 4 years. I recommend it though.

Same experience I had with my blower. I'll just get a gas powered next time. Plus it will be much stronger.

Buddy got an Echo Trimmer about 2 months ago. He says it is way better than the previous generation of cordless trimmers. He has no problem trimming his avg. size yard. He got the blower attachment too.

I'll sell you my echo for a $100. It's a SRM 2010 or something like that. Runs fine and everything except it needs a new spring or something in the head. Simple part, but I'm being gifted a newer stihl, so I have no use for this echo anymore.

I picked up a Black&Decker 40 volt weed eater and blower combo for $150 at Home Depot. I was very surprised how powerful and long lasting the battery is. I got tired of fixing my gas ones....

not a fan, but HD sells a "hybrid" battery/corded trimmer. Ryobi I think
